Not kidding.

This is going to be a tough race but it's apparent that the folks of PA-10 (Williamsport and very very republican) actually are starting to turn towards democrat Chris Carney.

Mind you Don Sherwood (R-adulterer) blew his wad of respectability when he was caught with a mistress (and she said he beat her too).

But even still, I know this district, my heritage is all in this district and in 2004 Sherwood won that district with 92% of the vote and he had an opponent. Not kidding!

This is absolutely great news and great job with all the hard workers in PA-10 who didn't quit just because someone said that democrats can't win in a republican district

1. A Mistress Said He Beat Her?
Someone better alert the LIBERAL media so they can investigate this.

Of course, it's not like he's President or anything, so I guess they figure, why bother.

5. HIS mistressed said she was beaten by him

Extramarital affair/report of abuse

On September 15, 2004, a woman locked herself inside the bathroom of Sherwood's Washington, D.C. apartment, and called 911 to report she was assaulted. When police arrived, the woman, Cynthia Ore, accused Sherwood of choking her, though he maintained he was only giving her a backrub. No charges were filed because both Sherwood and Ore refused to provide any details.

The details of that incident went unnoticed until 2005, when Veronica Hannevig, who ran against Sherwood on the Constitution Party ticket in 2004, distributed a copy of the police report to several newspapers and television stations. Sherwood eventually admitted he had a five-year extramarital affair with Ore, but denied abusing her.

Ore later filed a $5.5 million lawsuit against Sherwood, accusing him of repeatedly assaulting her during their relationship. <1> On November 8, 2005, Sherwood and Ore ended the lawsuit by reaching a settlement, the terms of which were not released.

The Ore incident damaged Sherwood’s standing with some Republicans. In April 2006, Martha Rainville, a Republican running for the U.S. House seat in Vermont, announced that she would return a campaign contribution from Sherwood’s political action committee. She cited her belief in "strong family values". <2> But Sherwood received strong support from Republican leaders for the 2006 Republican primary in his district (see below

17. abusing women is SOP for the GOP
Randy Kuhl R-NY threathened his ex-wife with a shotgun and got re-elected in a landslide.

I hope Carney wins, and Sestak, both Murphys, Altmire, Barr, Casey, Big Eddie, and any other good Dems we have running in PA.

3. I guess that having a mistress may have lowered his stature in the eyes
of his supporters, but the beatings raised him up a notch or two with the repub base. If he had only stoned her while quoting scripture, he'd have the base locked in!

11. thanks
for posting this - it is big news - this is still going to be a tough race - we need to get a whole lot of R's to switch to D's in the voting booth and Sherwood has not begun to spend
word is Cheney is coming to fund raise on the 18 or 19th
we need all the help we can get
this is a gorgeous place to live but it is largely poor, uneducated and stuck in it's own mud when it comes to change
thanks again

13. BTW, if anyone doesn't know who bcoylepa is.... (and a correction too)
...I know he's working with the Chris Carney campaign and I see him over in the PA forums all the time. I think it's great we have campaign people checking out the blogs & forums hearing what the people have to say. If you want to know more about the Carney campaign or volunteer, you could PM bcoylepa (although he needs to turn on his PMs through his profile :D )

or just visit the CORRECTED website (the first I gave was some female singer) http://www.carneyforcongress.com/

If Carney could win, this would be a major "D" pickup - if you can help out whether volunteering, sending a few dollars or just some good well wishes, I know it would all be good!

15. cheney is coming to DALLAS PA
that's the town next to where I live...

For those not familar with PA - when I first moved to PA (9 yrs ago) our Rep. was Kanjorski (DEM).

then PA redistricted, the repubs managed to carve out a nice squiggly line in repub-safe areas for Sherwood (and others). My town went to Sherwood... (ugggh)

Sherwood narrowly won the primary this year...barely

the big "tell" in how much trouble Sherwood is in - CHENEY IS COMING to HELP HIM.

here we have an incumbent Representative in a repub safe district (made just for him) and now he needs Cheney's help...

I seriously doubt this will be a public event - papers weren't too much on the details. It will probably be in a private home, no reporters and just a select few who have been screened and pre-approved. This means cheney will be preaching to the choir.

16. 50 State strategy should ALWAYS be the strategy
Listen this is great but please remember that the margins in a number of races and the Repuke media machine is putting in the big guns for the propaganda tool of low expectations.

What do I mean? They are talking as if they have already lost the house and are in jeopardy of losing the Senate. This is not the case.

We cannot get pulled into this reality warp. The fact is that a lot of these margins and percentages we are seeing on the House races especially are razor thin. We have to keep our noses to our state grindstone.

We might win the house but only if we work hard and in some cases just get damn lucky.

If they keep even the Senate the Repukes will be happy but god help us if we gain margins but do not win at least one house. They will declare it a huge victory.

There are NOT that many seats that are competitive and we cannot get complacent.

A 50 state strategy a strategy that embraces the entire nation and focuses on winning both state and national elections is the one that will win us victory in the end. In the states are where the districts are drawn do not forget to support your state representatives and fight for Dems in your state houses.

The reason the margins are thin despite the discontent overall in this country is the state houses are still in many cases in Republican hands.

It is vitally important that we take the nation back and move this country forward. Not just on a national but also on a state level.

Organize on a state level and on a local level. This is the key to a sustained victory.
