Make Nancy Skinner a Progressive Patriot!
http://www.progressivepatriotsfund.com/pickapatriot/vot...

Nancy Skinner from Michigan's 9th needs your help! Please support her in this poll, to win $5,000 from Russ Feingold's Progressive Patriots PAC.

You may remember Nancy from her appearances on Air America and as a consultant for CNN, MSNBC and even Fox, or her morning show here in the 9th district.

Nancy is fighting Republican Joe Knollenberg. She recently announced her plan to repeal $6 billion in oil subsidies and use the money to create fuel effecient hybrids!

Nancy's plan gives incentive to US Automakers to produce environmentally friendly vehicles. Currently, Rep. Knollenberg is taking campaign contributions from the oil industry. He certainly won't be encouraging production of hybrids! If we want to see cleaner, fuel effecient vehicles on the market, we need to send Nancy Skinner to Congress!

You can help Nancy's campaign simply by voting in this poll!

Vote for Nancy Skinner MI-09!

2. She had a great thing going in Chicago
And left her partner in the lurch when she announced her candidacy on the air ... we lost a powerful team and she went on to defeat. I sent her money then, but no, not this time.

3. that is Jane Skinner
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 06:29 PM by JordanLFW
Jane Skinner is on fox news as an afternoon host. Nancy Skinner just goes on to represent Democrats as a consultant.

She is a former progressive radio host, and now is running for Congress in Michigan's 9th district. She is very progressive- working to clean up the environment after being inspired by her hero Al Gore, and now running for office and taking strong stands in the vein of Howard Dean- and definitely NOT a religious wacko!

7. Nacy is Great
She is no longer on the air because WGN in Chicago went over to the dark side and booted all the reasonable voices.

Mike Malloy used to work there until the management booted him... I say send her money -- she is the real deal

8. That's not what happened
I was listening when Nancy announced her candidacy - and spoke to Ski afterwards. He had no idea she was going to do what she did and it was her fault the show was cancelled.

As for Malloy, I spoke to him as well, right after he lost his spot at WGN. Told him the Internet would be his salvation and sure enough ... it kept him going until Air America radio finally got off the ground.

Please, it's bad enough without making up stories. As I said, I did support her, putting my money where my mouth is, but didn't her defeat last time show you anything?

Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 10:41 PM by JordanLFW
She lost to Barack Obama, and weren't there like 10 candidates in that primary? This time shes fighting Joe Knollenberg, in the general, one on one. I like our chances.

10. grind axes much?
i have heard a lot of stupid reasons not to support good progressive dems on this board. but this one takes the cake. you don't like the way she quit her job? brother.
not only is she in a one on one race, instead of a primary field of 10, one of which was barack obama, but house races are a different animal. a blue collar congressional district vs a statewide race in a pretty purple state. in a different state, yet. so, i'm sure nancy learned a lot. and we learned a lot about nancy. did we learn that she can't win? not hardly. get real.

11. thank you
As progressives we should be excited that we have a legitimate chance to get a proud progressive in Congress! Plenty of incumbent Democrats get criticized here on DU- I'm not saying they dont deserve it- but when we have an oppourtunity to send someone we won't have to worry about, its harsh to see people suggesting she shouldn't even run. Would you tell Ned Lamont or Howard Dean the same thing?

I ask any nay-sayers to please read this quick interview first, it's from the '04 IL primary and it's still relevant today. Nancy is a fighter!

This is where Nancy is at her best, when she is communicating to the public. This race isn't going to be won by the DCCC targeting it, Charlie Cook bumping it to Lean Democratic, or Joe Knollenberg making out with President Bush. This race will be won when supporters meet Nancy.

12. Stupid is not understanding the consequences of one's actions
Nancy's position wasn't just "a job" - characterizing it as such is simply dismissing the efforts others made to promote Ski & Skinner's rare opportunity to communicate directly with a large urban audience. Nancy did what she did without consulting her own partner in the effort, which should warn us - but if you want to close your eyes that's your problem; just don't elevate Nancy's personal ambitions beyond what they are.

13. Just the facts, M'am
Uhm,

Not exactly my recollection of events per se, not to be challenging or anything and no disrespect intended, but:

1. Ski did know Nancy was entering politics and was making that announcement on the air
2. It was WLS not WGN
3. WLS fired Nancy after her July 2003 announcement, but ABC was planning to axe Ski and Skinner at the end of the Summer Book 2003 regardless (bastards).

4. Mike was employed by ie America Radio from 10/2000 - 2/2004 after being fired from WLS in 2/2000, but his show was available on plain ol' radio stations, both XM and Sirius satellite radio networks as well as on the Internet.

So maybe I'm missing something, how would keeping Knollenberg (R/fatcat) be better than supporting the Democrat?

Go NANCY!
(KB Malloy)
