I ran into James Carville this morning...
on my way to the dentist. As I was passing him on the corner I asked him, "So when are you going to say something good about Lamont?" He grinned, ducked his head and said, "Ok, ok." as he kept walking. It wasn't much, and I'm not expecting anything, but I'm glad I said something.

27. Darn, I thought the OP meant "with my bike".
I ran into Jame Carville "with my bike".

Er, I should be nice.

2. Cool, whereabouts?...
I oftentimes see D.C. celebs out and about on the streets. It's pretty funny sometimes. In many ways, they're schlubs just like us.

6. My last D.C. celebrities were Tom Delay flying
first class from National to Houston and Karen Hughes flying back from Houston to D.C. riding coach.
then getting her own luggage from the revolving rack. Blew my mind.

10. I still can't bring myself to put the "Raygun" before National...

The pugs would rename Washington to Reaganton if they could get away with it.

12. Me either...
and something just struck me this morning when I was listening to the news. They say

BWI-Marshall
Reagan-National

What gives? Why does Reagan get top billing and Thurgood Marshall doesn't?

21. No one says Reagan
Funny, neither air traffic controllers or pilots preface National Airport with Reagan.

22. I would hope not
after what Reagan did to the air traffic controllers.

Might as well call it "Fuckface National Airport"

31. Sorry, the correct terminology is "Pruneface"
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 10:47 AM by longship
Not, "Fuckface".

When Reagan was running in 1980, Mayor Coleman Young of Detroit publically called him "Old Pruneface". When Reagan was elected, the Reagan people sent a message to Mayor Young asking him to adopt a more respective attitude to the president-elect. Mayor Young publically announced that he would no longer call him Pruneface. "From now on I'll call him President-Elect Pruneface." Pretty funny.

So the actual name of our Natioanal Airport is:

Pruneface National Airport

25. Traffic control / pilot language is *heavily* regulated
Pilots and ATCs say exactly what the comm protocol tells them to say, and nothing at all else, when they're talking to each other. Congress can rename it "Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport", but the international aviation communications protocols aren't affected by that.

I've noticed that metro train drivers will sometimes say "Next stop, Reagan National Airport", but most will say "Next stop, National Airport". The ones who add the "Reagan" seem to be the same ones who get it right that Virginia is a commonwealth, not a state.

13. Some years ago I was racing through the Dallas Fort Worth...
airport and I looked into the window of a barber shop and there was Carville having his head shaved. I was rushing for a plane and didn't really have anything to say to him at the time but I certainly felt better about him then.

7. I still wonder how he can crawl in bed with that woman at night.
What an ugly, hideous monster of a woman she is. I'm not so sure about Carville, because of who he sleeps with. Talk about sleeping with the enemy...you are only as good as the company you keep.

They're just doing it for money, not because they actually
believe any of that shit.

17. Well, thank you...
for your disproportionate response. I share a little story about Carville and you act like the world has ended. I've been here quite a while and I can assure you this isn't even close to "The all time most pathetic attempt at political discussion in History". And there are any number of more pathetic message boards; why don't you go take a look around and report back to us?

30. If all that happens is...
he goes back to his buddies and says, "I've got strangers in NY coming up to me asking about Lamont", maybe some of them will know their days are numbered. If he was in the gym before I ran into him, I hope he got asked about it there, too.
