9. have you noticed they also are saying democrat rather than

democratic. For example they will say "republican challenger" but instead of "democratic challenger," they say "democrat challenger." It is improper English, yet they know how important language is...and do not want the dems to be considered "democratic."

And since all of them are doing it--including the talk-show-hosts, I can only assume they all got the same talking points. Talk about your vast right wing conspiracy.

10. You can always tell what the memo must have said

Simply correlate the statements from the 4th estate, as you've done. I wasn't (at least consciously) aware of this little manipulation. Thanks for pointing out.

11. Jim Pederson used it effectively in his campaign ad.

He said "I don't care if it is a Republican or Democrat idea." It was subtle but effective.

12. Awareness of these tactic starting to get around, too

This afternoon while listening to Talk of the Nation on PRI, I heard the "political junkie" commentator specifically mention this subtle transformation of language in context of the Repugs being more successful then Dems in getting their memes to stick in the public's mind.
