Just curious, but it strikes me that Dean's record-breaking contributions are a huge vote of no confidence for John Kerry, more than they are a even a vote for Howard Dean. Your motive for donating?

13. The "Dean" who just raised $700,000 in 12 hours...
...for a longshot gamble at $70 a pop... from those pesky grass roots contributors of his...who still believe in the Dream.

Its THAT Dean.

Lots of people who have huge incomes are too tight or too contrary to
contribute to any campaign. Thanks so much for what you do.

40. No!
ALthough Dennis will too..as in ALSO. But Dean is in a better position to make significant change happen in regards to fighting the corporate intersets who vie to control the Democratic Party agenda. And despite the more conservative elements of his record, Dean is a principled man who always has been working for the good of the American people. It's not too late to help...

7. I had mine and it was very quiet and low key because of what happened
on Tuesday. Most of them were the campaign staff and they were just dead tired and really annoyed that we had the votes and yet somehow we did not win.

9. DU ... Then Kerry
Funny ... I was just going to go to the Kerry web site to make my first contribution, but I decided to check-out DU first.

Any money Dean has raised today is from invested folks just trying to salvage a bit of their fading prospects.

The Democratic Party nomination is, for sure this time, for all intent and purposes, decided.

Though I was not pleased with Kerry's vote on the war resolution, and he was not my first choice, I am 100 percent for removing Bush from office. I will not let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Just because George McGovern and Eugene McCarthy voted for the Gulf of Token resolution, did not mean that they could not later become the political leaders of the anti-Vietnam war movement. Kerry has now taken up the cause against Bush's war ... that ought to be good enough. He has one of the most progressive voting records in the US Senate -- in fact his "liberalism" is going to be the center of the Bush campaign.

Dean was critical to the Democratic Party primary process, he and his supporter have a lot to be proud of ... but the big fight to reclaim our country is now getting underway.

Let's get it on.

I gave for the first time today. Only 10% of the delegates have been decided at this point.

I used to not be so suspicious, but when I see newbies who are such nay-sayers I really find it hard to believe that they are not here for pure intentions.

Consider it an investement in conviction. Now get involved! Get local. Talk truth. This will be the Dean legacy.

Maybe we'll have a viable 3rd party in 2008. The dems better produce in this cycle or ELSE!

11. I just donated, for the third time in two weeks
Dean has enriched my life, by being someone who showed me that it isn't always the same empty suits, the political windsocks, the fence straddlers. By becoming interested in his message, I learned to pay attention (or tune out) the messages of the other candidates, to see who has the courage of their convictions and who plays it safe for political expediency.

Any money I send Dean has a dual purpose: to support his campaign, and to thank the man for shaking me out of my political doldrums.

I wish I could give Dean a thousand bucks just for that priceless video where the reporter repeated what Dean had said about bush's foreknowledge of 9/11, and bush's stammering, fidgety reaction. You can see it at the Take Back The Media web site. http://www.takebackthemedia.com/liar.html

it's "do or die" time. We need it now, do what you can. F$#K Kerry, he didn't enter my mind when I saw that letter. This campaign is the first thing to make me enthusiastic about our future, and I WANT to see it succeed.

But, now that you've reminded me, I do kinda loathe Kerry, so a second donation towards breaking the bat is due as well. Thank god income tax returns come this month. :p

Because Dean is my candidate, and he gets his money from me and people like me, not special interests. Yes, Kerry has run a dirty campaign and no, I will never vote for him, but that's beside the point.

30. Another $100. Nothing to do with Kerry.
I feel like WE did our part leading up to Iowa. We had the people, we gave the effort, we gave the money. The campaign just couldn't turn that into votes, for whatever reason.

Now we've got a new team. Trippi's gone. I want to give the new guy a chance to turn this passion into VOTES. We are not Trippi groupies. We want to win. Hopefully, somebody up there has the wherewithall to use our dedication and our money as a lever to overcome the machine that resists us.

This is not over.

My previous contribution, like all the other here, had nothing to do with Kerry -- but I think I'll go do it again just because you suggested it.

Let's see now, if only I could afford to match my actual loathing for Kerry in dollars. Hell, that's probably be about a million, give or take a few.
