2. Not sure the numbers are coming from, but it's gotta cost more than
$3 million a day to run that operation over there.

13. As of last year, it had reached nearly 200M a day; I think it's more now
http://www.democrats.org/a/p/the_real_cost_of_the_iraq_war_to_american_taxpayers.html

Then there's this post on the Greatest page from a few days ago that refers to 300 million a day, so I guess I filled in 300 in my head when I saw yours:

17. That's ok. I am trying to make several points actually,
One is the very fact that no one seems to know, and the government surely doesn't care, what this is costing this country. Esp. in terms of the so called product, i.e.Democracy.

Here is another site that I read recently, again, different numbers all the time but its worth taking a look at.

6. not sure what the cost is anymore. sometimes I read 3mill
sometimes 177mill. The fact that we don't even know what the hell we're spending is indicative of smarmy accounting.

8. Actually, I think it might be .3 billion a day
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 07:39 PM by parasim
at least according to these figures:
http://usgovinfo.about.com/library/weekly/aairaqwarcost.htm

That would make it 2.1 billion a week.

Still... that's a hell of a lot of money. I certainly get your point...

10. An article in Jan/2006 included a quote then from Col Clark
http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0110/dailyUpdate.html

Costs of war so far (or so he said) 173Bill. Projections are that the war stretched into 2010=2.1 Trillion.

Regardless of my errors in posting whatever number it should be, its clear we don't have a clue as to how much this is costing and what the hell the "progress" is buying beyond death.

11. We've budgeted and blown off a bit more than 306 BILLION...
Since the War started in 03. Doing the math I come up with about 1.72 BILLION per week blown on this disaster.

20. More than that....more like 7.46 billion per month.....
306 billion / by 41 months = 7.46 billion per month.
306 billion / by 177.65 weeks = 1.72 billion per week.
306 billion / by 1243.55 days = 246 million per day.

How the HELL do you spend 246 million each day in Iraq? Fat ass,rip off no bid contracts? Big contracts for the military industrial complex?

Of course no one knows the exact cost,Bush and his Nazi's at the State Dept are using Enron math to really hide whats being spent. The 306+ billion is what Congress has budgeted to this date--its the only number we can really go by.

So on a given day in August, the US paid 195mill to essentially lose five of its recruits.

There is no reason to continue our occupation of Iraq for the purpose of the War On Terror and anyway...we can't afford to help them anymore.
