why not work to make the government more transparent and trustworthy - ie: run by the people the way it is supposed to be in the first place? I find it ironic that the call for dismantling and weakening the government seems to create nothing but a chaotic might-makes-right society. Look at the current 2 or 3 wars in the middle east if you don't think so.

So we have a choice it seems:

option 1: continue to let the government self-destruct and claim it's for our own good, even though there are a very small number of people who actually benefit from this: the ones who are selling us the goods and not paying us well enough to buy them because their CEO can make more by deregulating everything and sending all of the jobs overseas. Rinse and repeat.

option 2: actually support a more free press, a more transparent government, and encourage folks to actually pay attention to important issues instead of smoke screen anti-human-rights issues, and let the people play a more active role in the government. That way, any program which benefits us all, such as health care and retirement, will be fair and since We will be in charge of the government, We will be in charge of the programs too.

I hate to break it to you, but look where deregulations and privatizing national resources has gotten us right now. We pay sky high rates for everything from gas to medicine, and get very little in return. i am open to discussion about this - please educate me where I am wrong.

EDIT:
and actually let people vote more easily. it seems that for such a "smaller government/anti-elitism" party, The Republicans sure seem to like to prevent people from actually voting and keeping the elections transparent enough to verify easily.

2. Whoa!
That's a great question...I just posted a reply that there was a total lack of trust. I'll answer that one:

NO

3. I found these:

Trust in Government
In 1994, the University of Michigan conducted a poll asking people, "Do you trust the government to do the right things most of the time?" Sadly, only 21 percent answered "Yes." Have "government reinvention" efforts of helped increase public trust?

This article actually answers your question but I didn't pursue it to find all of the information:

4. Why pose a question
that is always going to bring out the same answer from everyone?

5. But the question wasn't if people here trusted the government
but rather whether there was a poll about it. Am I missing something?

7. I doubt it - asking the question wouldn't benefit anyone with power
They don't care if you trust them anymore than the mafia cares if you trust them, as long as you pay the protection money they demand, IMO.
