McKinney camp blames Jews again!
Despite a landslide loss in Tuesday night's primary runoff against Hank Johnson, the controversy just keeps coming out of the Cynthia McKinney campaign.

First there was a scuffle between McKinney's bodyguards and an 11Alive news photographer, then there were remarks made to a cable network news crew, in which members of McKinney's entourage allegedly made shocking anti-Semitic remarks.

The Anti-Defemation League says they want to hear from McKinney they want her to disavow the anti-Semetic remarks reported by the network crew, remarks that recall the scandal that cost her the election in 2002.

Were seeing some Cynthia McKinney supporters are resorting to anti-Semetic and racist language and again blaming the Jews for her loss in this campaign, said ADL southeast Associate Director Shelley Rose.

The remarks were allegedly made just moments after McKinney's entourage passed out of earshot of 11Alive cameras, as the congresswoman left her campaign headquarters on Tuesday night.

Someone reportedly said quote, You wanna know what led to the loss? Israel. The Zionists. You. put on your yarmulke and celebrate."

2. Saw it on film. Wow
McKinney has surrounded herself with a group of people that would give any Jewish person second thoughts about Democrats. It was pretty vile. A lot of accusations that it was the Jews that caused her to lose the race, the "put on your yarmulke" statement was absolutely uncalled for.

Of course, I am Jewish so maybe I am just getting overhyped....again.

42. She makes Dean look like the poster boy for self-control
I won't miss her. Sure, she questioned Junior in public on hot issues like 9-11 and the war when nobody else would, but she did so in such a scatterbrained and ungrammatical way that she made herself and any who agreed with her look like idiots. She's had so many semi-coherent outbursts and missteps over the years that she had it coming to her.

As for consorting with the Nation of Islam, that's just pure bigotry at its worst; they're a hate organization. This gentile is disgusted.

Besides all that, just how damned powerful can the Jews be in Georgia of all places, anyway? That's like something out of a comedy sketch. Next thing we're going to hear about how the Jews control Oklahoma.

the state of georgia. They were attacking the media...and no, it was an unnecessary comment. I'll give the nation of Islam a pass on this...they're religious whackos....not much of what they believe in is coherent anyway.

124. What media? This is nuts.
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 08:00 PM by PurityOfEssence
Admittedly, the jews have more influence proportionately than any other group, and some of the more scurrilous strains within the group account for the PNAC, AIPAC and a host of other reckless ills, but for her and her people to kvetch about being done in by them is ludicrous. Allying herself with the racist assholes of the Nation of Islam shows her to be a fool and a tool.

How hurt was she by the supposedly jewish-dominated national media? Aren't most Representative races more influenced by local media? Is local Georgia media jewish-dominated? Methinks not. Having roots in the south, I know that the general drift is to hate the tribesmen even more than the darker-hued offspring of former property. This is just plain silly.

Yes, the PNAC and other pro-Israeli forces helped goad us into stomping on Saddam, and they're doing their best to grease the skids for further lunacy in the current Lebanese situation, but to simply blame the jews for this is lunkheaded and unfair. She is her own worst enemy: she acts and speaks with wild inaccurate abandon, doesn't take responsibility for her actions, doesn't do her homework, slashes at any opponents, rages with self-aggrandizing aplomb, can hardly form a presentable sentence, struts and frets endlessly, and sucks far too much time for her starring role than for the underlying issues for which she supposedly cares. Flame out and go away.

More than anything else--including reality--her actions and those of her supporters show childish idiocy, stewed in a hearty broth of racism and served hot with a side of reckless selfishness.

She's an embarrassment, a supreme lightweight and a narcissistic gadfly. Good riddance.

6. Is there a video or an audio link...or has Cynthia McKinney been
...swift-boated by the right wing? Rumors and innuendo are not facts!

On the other hand, the MSM of Georgia has been opposed to Rep Cynthia McKinney throughout her term in office with numerous falsehoods and comments that border on being racist and most certainly appeal the the systemic racism throughout the country.

Here is what Cynthia McKinney actually said:

<snip>
August 10, 2006
Cynthia McKinney's Election Night Remarks
Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney
Remarks Election Night
Tuesday, August 8, 2006
After Listening to Pink's Dear Mr. President

I wanted you to hear this song because it says so much about why *this* election in Georgia was so important.

In the film American Blackout, you saw that I say that my district needs jobs. And so, in partnership with faith-based organizations and labor, I put together a program to train my constituents to acquire the skills for jobs that won't be outsourced overseas, and that pay more than a living wage, with health and retirement benefits. Last month, we took in 500 students. Who at the end of their training will have transportable skills, internationally- recognized certification, and a chance to live the American dream, supporting their families and our community.

The news media didn't tell you about that because they wanted you to focus on my hair!

Tonight my mother was hurt by someone in this room, a member of the press. My staff assistant was hurt by someone in this room, a member of the press.

I first got into trouble when I was compelled in 1991, while serving in the Georgia Legislature, to speak against George Herbert Walker Bush's war against Iraq. And during a point of personal privilege, I declared that I could not support *any* of George Bush's reasons for war.

My colleagues got up and walked out on me, I was vilified in the press, and compared to Julian Bond, who too had spoken out against an unjust war.

Ladies and gentlemen, there comes a time when people of conscience are compelled to dissent.

7. This is probably why.
Georgia Rep. Cynthia McKinneys primary run-off opponent has tapped into the pro-Israel fundraising network that helped her virtually unknown challenger Denise Majette topple McKinney and Artur Davis beat then-Rep. Earl Hilliard (D-Ala.) in a pair of hotly contested 2002 primaries in black-majority districts.

Hank Johnson collected at least $34,100 on Tuesday from individuals and political action committees (PACs) that supported Majette, Davis or both, including several pro-Israel PACs. Overall, Johnson reported receiving $63,100 on Tuesday.

The contributions were recorded in a filing with the Federal Election Commission that requires only donors of $1,000 or more to be identified, meaning Johnsons haul could have been larger.

Seven pro-Israel PACs gave to Johnson on Tuesday: MOPAC in Michigan, Washington PAC in D.C., SUNPAC and National Action Committee PAC in Florida, CITYPAC in Chicago, Mid-Manhattan PAC in New York and Louisiana for American Security PAC. Five of the seven contributed to both Majette and Davis four years ago, according to FEC records. SUNPAC gave to Majette in 2002 and to Davis in 2004, while Mid-Manhattan PAC gave only to Davis in 2002.

9. I am as "Left" as almost anyone on these boards, but McKinney's
behavior has, at times, concerned me. When I saw that she has associated herself with Louis Farrakhan, I just knew this sort of "anti-Semitic outburst" was not far off. These boards have (pardon the irony...) crucified (and, rightly so, imo) Mel Gibson for the same thing in the past week, and he was drunk when he said what he did.

I, personally, am saddened and disappointed by this development. I expect more from those who earn elected office.

Someone also reportedly said that the Ku Klux Klan was disbanding and turning their Klaverns into miniature African-American History museums.

Someone also reportedly said that Matisyahu was becoming the head of the American Nazi party.

Someone also reportedly said that the sun shines out of Condi Rice's pinched little ass.

Someone also reportedly said that Drew Barrymore is a space alien.

Someone also reportedly said that Fox News causes cancer of the tushie.

Someone also reportedly said that William Shatner is the secret dictator of the world.

Someone also reportedly said that Janet Reno and Jean Reno are the same person.

Someone also reportedly said that LSD cures ulcers, blackheads, and bad sex.

Someone also reportedly said that George Bush is an intelligent, insightful, and wise leader.

However, they were wrong.

13. Cynthia has, indeed, gone beyond the limits occasionally
And it's the kind of "beyond" that can really kill a reputation. She has only herself to blame for that.

BUT ... there's also been a lot of rumors and exaggerations about McKinney. And in any event, unsubstantiated, second-hand, maybe-coulda-possibly quotations are the journalistic versions of idle gossip.

No matter who is under scrutiny, I think we should hear the truthful version of things, not the artificially amplified version. Much more of this nonsense, and CMcK's reputation will be destroyed, and no one will be able to tell whether she did it to herself, or whether she was victimized by gossip.

"...But there are other explanations. Her father, Georgia state legislator Billy McKinney, shared his version with an Atlanta television reporter on August 19, 2002, the night before she lost. The reporter had asked Billy McKinney about his daughter's use of a years-old, moth-balled endorsement from former Atlanta mayor Andrew Young. Such endorsements were worthless, the elder McKinney replied, because "Jews have bought everybody. Jews." In case the reporter didn't understand, he spelled the word: "J-E-W-S." (A few weeks later, in a runoff against a political neophyte, Billy McKinney became a former Georgia state legislator.)"

for the seat being vacated by Harold Ford Jr. A good man who happens to be a white Jew ran for his seat but some of the other candidates blatantly stated that a white non-Christian can't represent a majority black Christian district. I guess they missed that part in the constitution about no religious test required for office or they are anti-semites/racists.

She lost by a bigger margin than Lieberman did. This year the democratic party voters are out in full force to say we will not take this anymore. We want a party that is focused on taking down the Bush agenda. They are also going to turn out in the november elections in large numbers to ensure no more republican rule in the Congress. Cynthia Mckinney cannot effectively oppose the administration because of things like this.

We're really concerned that she continues to include the New Black Panther Party in her entourage, because we see them as one of the largest anti-Semitic and racist black hate groups in America today, said Rose.

Each of us reacts, and is judged by, our tribal connections, and all three Father God dominationist religions involved are used to bestow righteousness or anathema, depending on which Male Land Grabber dominationist is speaking and stands to benefit--in war profits or new power. "Buzz-buzz!" goes the White House basement console, and we're all at each other's throats. 59. ok, first, Zionists and Israel do not equal all Jews
secondly, why is this type of remark the only one that gets press?

People scapegoat liberals, muslims, immigrants, homosexuals, and hispanics all the time. No one seems to care. Nobody, nowhere.

Hell, muslims are called Islamofascists and moslems.

Homosexuals are reminded daily that they are going to hell. And they are used as fodder in almost EVERY RW political campaign.

Candidates in both parties remind people that things are getting worse not because of Republican incompetence and their lack of concern for the middle and lower class, but because of immigrants (sometimes even legal immigrants).

And every day, Dick Cheney or Karl Rove or somebody reminds me just how dangerous I am since I am left wing and I obviously should be tried for treason.

So why is one offhand comment about a group of people with a very clear agenda that involves death and war such big news?

She should have stuck with blaming one of the groups that it is still appropriate to scapegoat and slander.

63. If Mel Gibson had been ranting about "fags" I don't think it would have
gone much better for him.

The media is a different issue.

What the RW uses for campaigns is a different issue.

Bigotry is bigotry. I'm not worried about who's covering it, or who's using it, except to say that all of it is wrong.

And if there is a difference between saying Jew and saying Zionist then perhaps someone should have told the staffer, as he was referring to both, calling the reporters Jews and ranting about Zionists.

She should have stuck to blaming no one but her damn self.

It's never appropriate with any group. Ever. Don't excuse her and her staff. Ugly is ugly.

Phelps did indeed get condemnation prior to his picketing soldiers funerals, but of course, that was what catapulted him into national attention. To which one might say, so? There are lots of nutty fringe groups saying hateful things in this country; and any given group has to do something really spectacularly stupid to garner much attention.

As for your claim about Mel Gibson, had he made the same comments about any other group, it would undoubtedly have attracted a like amount of attention.

And oh, that you think I'm pious, bothers me not one whit.

84. I was echoing the poster above me's reference to she
and what "she" should have stuck to.

It was someone we don't have an identification for yet, though we have him on audio and video, so one would think that someone familiar with the campaign could say that this person was either a staffer, an aide, or a nobody. He's being identified as an aide, but that could be RW spin. I'd appreciate a definite ID.

For the moment all we know is that someone on the night of McKinney's concession speech started ranting at the reporters, calling them Jews, saying they got what they wanted, that they should take their cameras and go film their Uncle Tom, since they got what they wanted.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

"They take it up the ass." (pointing to his own ass) "This is only for taking a shit."

"(W)ith this look, who's going to think I'm gay? It would be hard to take me for someone like that."

"Do I sound like a homosexual? Do I talk like them? Do I move like them?"

(on the above remarks) "I don't think there's an apology necessary, and I'm certainly not giving one. ... If someone wants my opinion, I'll give it. What, am I supposed to lie to them?"

(after GLAAD brought his homophobia to light) "I've been chased by automobiles doing dangerous things on the freeway. People have tried to spit on me. It's made me totally paranoid."

(claiming he had been confronted by a "gay group") "They had signs, they were screaming and frothing at the mouth -- pure hatred. It was wild."

All of the above were said by Gibson over the years.

They aren't quite as directly on point as what Coulter said, but they do help show my point.

...apparently it's escaped at least *your* notice:

This from wikipedia.org.:

>>>>Accusations of Homophobia

Some gay rights groups accused Gibson of homophobia, after a 1992 interview in the Spanish magazine El Pais. Asked what he thought of gay people, he said, "They take it up the ass." Gibson gestured descriptively, continuing, "This is only for taking a shit." When the interviewer recalled that Gibson previously had expressed fear that people would think he is gay because he's an actor, Gibson replied, "Do I sound like a homosexual? Do I talk like them? Do I move like them? I think not." He later defended his comments on Good Morning America, saying, " to a direct question. If someone wants my opinion, I'll give it. What, am I supposed to lie to them?"<24><25> In the Playboy interview, he responded to GLAAD's protests over his comment with "I'll apologize when hell freezes over. They can fuck off".<22> Eventually, however, he was forced to make ammends with the gay community. In January 1997 Gibson and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation hosted ten lesbian and gay filmmakers for an on-location seminar on the set of the movie Conspiracy Theory.<26>>>>>>

In fact, "it would have ( and *has*) gone much better for him.

Pretend these comments were coming from a Bush aide. Would you be defending them then?

And there is a seperate incident where Steve Mohammed, her bodyguard, got into a fight with reporters, twice in the same evening. A physical fight, that appears on video to have been started by Mohammed.

It was a bad night in general for relations between the Cynthia camp and the press.

NO ONE here said that McKinney said those hateful things. BUT she has said hateful things in the past and she has surrounded herself with a group of people known for saying hateful things.

Apparently that is okay with some here.

earlier. Most folks get pissed when their mom is manhandled.

If someone shoved my mom, I'd say alot of things, but Zionist, Jew, Cracker, or Uncle Tom wouldn't be among them.

BTW, I condemn racism, but heaven forbid if I should hear of a John Edward's staffer; a Hillary staffer; a Kerry staffer getting cut off in traffic and yelling an ethnic slur in anger.

123. I bet if one does
He or she will be fired the day after his or her boss finds out about it. It is impossible for McKinney to argue that she doesn't know these people said these things. Yet, presumedly they are still gainfully employed.

she's done as 4th Dst. rep. so it's much to do about nothing.

127. No it isn't
Imagine if the day of Delay's resignation from Congress one of his guards called some press people niggers and then had another one who told a Jewish reporter to wear a Yamaka (sp). If I am going to have the moral authority to critise right wing bigots I must also critize left wing ones.

is of no consequence now because he's just Joe Citizen.

Either it is morally reprehensible to hang with racists or it isn't. It doesn't become morally reprehensible when one become a Republican.

because 3 republicans donated to his campaign.

From now on McKinney is a known associate of anti-semitites.

You wanted to play the taint game.

Now you lost because your candidate out crazied even our expectations.

120. Well, you said it doesn't matter. So why read who made the comment
When I suggested finding out for sure, you ridiculed the idea.

She's on her way out, like you said, so who cares. Of course, she was on her way out in 2002 too, when her dad made his racist comments. Oh, but that's not relavant either, since it wasn't Cindy herself.

But she came back. She can come back again. And she will probably still be surrounding herself with Nation of Islam people who are prone to anti-Semetic slurs.

Oh well, I guess if you're not Jewish it doesn't matter, eh?
