Rasmussen Poll: Lamont (D) 40%, Lieberman (I) 40%, Schlesinger (R) 13%
"July 23, 2006
Support for Senator Joe Lieberman (D) is plummeting in Connecticut.

Just last month he mustered a fifteen-point lead over Ned Lamont in a projected three-way general election contest (with Lamont as the Democrat and Lieberman as an Independent). Now, Lieberman’s lead has disappeared. In this month’s three-way match-up, Lamont and Lieberman each get 40% of the vote. The Republican, Alan Schlesinger, attracts just 13%.

In April, Lamont could pull only 20% in the three-way, just half what he grabs now."

Yes, that same polling sample had Lamont ahead 51-41
Released on the same day, July 23: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/July%202006/connecticutPrimaryJuly.htm

Every pollster will be eager to sample this race now that the 3-way matchup is set. I'm sure we'll get a flurry of polls in the next few weeks. My guess would be Lieberman leading by maybe high single digits in an average of the new polls.

14. Still not giving up on ol' turncoat Joe, eh?
Trying to spin his 4% point loss to an unknown upstart Democrat into a November victory AGAINST the Democratic party?

5. You have to think that it will.
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 12:49 AM by BullGooseLoony
Because it just always seems to go that way.

You say "loser" enough times, referring to Lieberman, and that's what he becomes.

Not only that, but once Lamont takes a good lead it will turn into a downward spiral for Lieberman because of the dynamics of the race.

Lamont needs to win this now.

4. Down down down for Bush's love child.
All through the last week, I've been comforted by this poll. If Lieberman can't beat Lamont before Lamont gets the party endorsement, he's got nowhere to go but straight to Zell.

I have been telling my DU friends earlier that tonight is not just winning, but major win, yet a win can embarrass us all together if we do not pay attention in November with Joe. A complete win is yet to come in november.

9. With the stench of defeat on Joe and the loss of party support, I'd think
this would likely only get worse for him from now on, even with some Repub and Indy voters.

10. Question
Ok, question.

We see what the results are. We know Lierman is expecting to pull GOP votes, the GOP canidate is a wash out. But the democrats that voted for lieberman isn't a for sure vote in November. Any guess how many will abandon the political party to follow aguy that is proven that he will ignore the will of the people?

I know If I voted for such a canidate, I wouldn't follow him. His continuing to run after the people spoke, says so many things that I as a voter do not like.

I don't think I'm the only one would would feel like this. However, I am not a CT voter.

Those in CT, what are you take on this thought? You have personaly met the voters, what are you getting from them?
