2. Is there not more world strife compared to CLintons' presidency
GOP agenda would be a world at constant war. Enemies would multiply significantly for the US. THe world does not like bullies or imperialists.
At home. We'd all be on our own. THe GOP agenda is to enrich corporate masters and if you don't make it on your own, there is alwasys the street. Schooling would be private , expensive, and segregated. Gated communites would proliferate. You better save with your minimum wage jobs, because social security would be bankrupted.
Health care private insurers would be unregulated and in total control of what services you deserve.
As for the rich, what category exceeds a definition of 'gilded era.'

What would you define as the "entire GOP agenda"?

Are you talking about their party platform from 2004 or something different?

It seems to me there "agenda" while rightwing is fairly amorphous and would, upon the accomplishment of one item, quickly adapt to add additional ones.

Thus, "accomplishing" the agenda of any political party would probably mean its full control of government and the banning of other parties vis a vis the communist party in China, the USSR, etc.

8. I dont think they have "full" power. That is the genius of the system
The courts still reflect a much longer and liberal time-horizon. The American system is brilliant insofar as it is democratic, but also allows for a long-term view because the courts are long-term.

In 10 years we might have a very liberal legislative and executive that will, in turn, be halted in an agenda by a more conservative judiciary.

All in all, it works. 10 more years of conservatives and then we might have a real problem with the whole system and not just the current leaders.

9. get a clue, ERF
those bastards own the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court, the voting machines and the media. They have very likely stolen the last two presidential elections. I am already starting not to recognize my own country; ten more years of these conservative pieces of SHIT will make us a third-world country.

12. I realize that DU is a realm of perfect grammar so
my apologies to have offended your sensibilities.

Nevertheless, an attack on syntax is certainly preferrable to ad hominem.

A bit counterintuitive, if one has an aversion to actually reading.

Yes, the people have the power to take it back; should elections not be rigged.
But as to the courts. Think judges have to be fair minded! They are political appointments just like everyone else.
Lots of disrespect for our democratic traditons originate in the courts. I suggest you look into the kinds of freepers Bush has appointed, particuarily to the DC court.
Example, Clarence Thomas. I sure would not like to be tried by him.
Or maybe better yet. Examine the political/judicial history of the last gilded age, when robber barrons ran the country. We then had one party rule. The courts acted as a slave to the robber barrons, as did the militia, who were just an unofficial arm of the "Pinkertons."

to maintain the industrial base. Sure, they think they can just outsource, but then the country is reduced to a police state (or a theocracy) to keep the mobs from stealing all their cool stuff. If the entire GOP agenda were accomplished, it would be an unprecedented and total disaster.

(on edit) Make that a total Fucking disaster.

15. Free Market Utopia?
Yes, the world WOULD be a better place!

It will be Heaven on Earth™ for the 500 or so extended families that will own the planet. For the billion or so worker/slaves owned by the corporations, it won't be so bad either. Bread and circuses, you know. Of course the 5 or so billion people who are killed in the corporate/resource wars won't know what they are missing!
