Top 10 Reasons Blackwell Won't Release Tax Return
Top 10 Possible Reasons Why Ken Blackwell

Wont Release His Tax Return

For Immediate Release August 3, 2006

Contact: Brian Rothenberg, Communications Director 614-221-6563

(Please note, this is a PARODY. Although we recognize that in Ohio it is often hard to tell.)

10. While Blackwell sold stock in gambling machine companies, he bought stock in foreign rope and stanchion companies expecting long lines at the Democratic precincts this Fall.

9. Blackwell owns stock in scale companies used to weigh the paper used on absentee ballots.

8. Blackwell owns stock in a company that wants to privatize Ohio Turnpike Rest Areas. He plans on increasing Turnpike revenue because the foreign owned companies think paid bidets are the next rest area rage.

7. Blackwell is accused of Martha Stewart-like insider trading, by selling Diebold stock one day after getting a pre-election advanced copy of Bob Bennetts guide to Cuyahoga County voting procedures.

6. Realizing that his gambling stock is going nowhere in Ohio, Blackwell has invested in Holy Bingo ink used at Reformation Ohio fundraisers.

5. Blackwell has invested stock in the animation studio that produced Mike DeWines doctored video of the Twin Towers tragedy. He believes this will be a growing business this fall.

4. Blackwell took advantage of a good deal when a flood of rare coins, beanie babies and collectibles hit the Ohio market. He bought low and plans on selling high when the market goes up next year.

3. Blackwell owns stock in a para-professional company known for teaching email communication utilizing "The Lankford Method taught by former Nixon aide Donald Segretti.

2. Blackwell is hiding royalties paid to the estate of Baseball great Dizzy Dean and former Congressman Jack Kemp for plagiarizing their ice breaker story about being hit in the head in a ballgame and waking up to the headline "Blackwell head X-ray shows nothing."

AND THE NUMBER ONE REASON BLACKWELL DID NOT RELEASE HIS TAX RETURN:

1. After mistakenly picking up a pen used in 2004 Democratic precinct voting, he realized I wrote my tax return in invisible ink.

7. Hello?
Response, please? Why did you say that Mr. Blackwell is following Ned Lamont's example? See, Mr. Blackwell is refusing to release his tax returns, but Mr. Lamont released his, as I pointed out in my link. I'm not sure I understand how that would be "following Ned Lamont's example." If Mr. Blackwell was to follow Ned Lamont's example, then he'd release his tax returns. Or are you trying to somehow say that Mr. Lamont didn't release his tax returns, a statement that isn't true?

I look forward to your response, TheVirginian.

8. How long did it take Lamont?
You should at least give Blackwell the same amount of time.

9. From what I can tell . . .
Lamont published his 2005 tax return the same week he filed it, after applying for and getting an extension to file.

Has Blackwell not filed his 2005 tax return yet?

I guess I'm still missing your point: If Mr. Blackwell was to follow Mr. Lamont's example, as you asserted he was doing, Mr. Blackwell would have released his return promptly upon its filing. But he hasn't done so.

This wouldn't be a cheap shot at Lamont's expense in a totally unrelated race, would it? Because if it is, it looks awfully petty on your part. I'm sorry that Mr. Lamont's electoral opponent isn't doing any better, given all the advantages he has enjoyed and squandered, but I fail to see how Ken Blackwell's failure to be forthcoming with his personal finances in Ohio reflects on Mr. Lamont in Connecticut.

12. Lieberman has been asking Lamont for them for months.
Lamont released them two weeks ago, and refuses to release returns for the last four years.

I honestly could've give a shit about Lamont's tax returns, just as I don't give a shit about Blackwell's tax returns. But I think we're going to feign outrage and make it a big deal for Blackwell, then we should at least recognize the fact that Lamont withheld his for quite a long time as well. Unless we're promoting double-standards here on DU?

14. Lamont didn't withhold his 2005 return
He hadn't filed his 2005 return until quite recently. You can't release what doesn't exist. It's not unusual for someone with the personal wealth of Ned Lamont to request an extension to file his taxes, and it appears that Lamont paid the fee required to do so, and then filed.

And why should Lamont release his tax returns for prior years? He's running for Senate this year. You claim you don't give a shit, but you're straining mightily to create a fake equivalency between Lamont and Blackwell that doesn't exist, except in some corner of your own mind. This is a rhetorical tactic I'm a lot more accustomed to seeing on certain media outlets than on DU. Are you sure you're posting on the right board? Perhaps your time would be better spent somewhere else?

6. Strickland and Ohio Dems need to keep fighting this
Because even though Strickland is commanding the polls, you would have to be a fool to believe that the win is guarenteed in a state corrupted by Diebold and Kenny Black"not-so"well

10. it is curious that he won't release
I wonder if he will eventually and what it will reveal that he doesn't want the public to see.

hmmmm...
Maybe he isn't really married to his wife because they are both actually homosexuals and live apart and so he filed single?

btw - for anyone who didn't get the sarcasm... Blackwell was trying to swiftboat Strickland.
