Former state Rep. Jeff Habay was handcuffed and taken to the Allegheny County Jail yesterday after a judge revoked his bond.

Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey A. Manning ordered the 40-year-old Shaler Republican, who was convicted last year of ordering his staff to do campaign work on state time, to begin serving his six- to 12-month jail sentence at once.

A jury found him guilty Dec. 5 on one of two charges brought by the state attorney general. Mr. Habay also faces a Nov. 13 trial .. on 21 additional charges, including seven felony counts...his next trail is on charges that he intimidated witnesses and filed a false police report."

Here's where it gets more absurd. Habay is also charged with a false claim that a political opponent mailed anthrax to him.

Habay "was charged in March 2005 with falsely claiming that he was mailed an envelope containing white powder by George Radich, one of several constituents who sued asking a judge to order an audit of Habay's political action committee. Prosecutors charge that Habay made up the fake anthrax attack to smear Radich ..."

And here's where it gets worse. Habay says he is the victim of a political witchhunt - by a Republican Attorney General against a 6 term Republican legislator. He says the leader of this evil cabal who is out to get him is Senator Rick Santorum.

1. I know! I used to live in that area. The majority of voters are Dems,

but from talking to my relatives who still live there, the local pubs are really SHOCKED by his actions! I wouldn't be too surprised if many of them just stay home on voting day becasue of it!

Yep, a shoo in for the gop hall of shame. I suppose if the authorities dig deep enough they could find that the honorable congressman habay liked the company of little boys; an automatic pass to the republican hall of honor.

Not only was she whining about how her husband was innocent but also whined about the attorney fees they owe.
