Gore’s former adviser moved back to Tennessee (Woohoo!)
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 11:33 AM by durrrty libby
On the Chris Matthews’ Sunday show, the panel was discussing the dem presidential

contenders when one of them stated Al’s former adviser is now active.

She is sure Gore will join the race

This thrills me!

1. Gore is one of the few Americans- dem or repub- who has the brains
and gravitas to even begin to pull our country out of this damaged foxhole the neocons have dug for us.

IMHO

6. BRAINS?!?! We don't need no steenkin' brains. I want a Preznit who would
be fun to have a beer with. Intelleckshuals are EVIL. You must be some kinda Yurpeen-lovin' (or FRENCH-lovin'!) nutjob to think that political leaders should be intelleckshuals.

7. He's been through it all and can handle it
They were talking about how great John Edwards was doing, until

Andrews (I think) blew up and said no way !!! He has no foreign policy experience, and it will never happen. That’s when they started talking about Al and how his credibility is climbing the ladder quickly.

14. Being from Wisconsin, I like to see Feingold in there.
I think it is important for the Democratic candidates for president and vp to both have been against the war in Iraq. There will be plenty of mud slung at them for other things, but being for the war before you were against it will be off the table.

5. He needs to time this right.
If I were advising him on this, I would be recommending not saying a damned word about it until Spring, 2008, at least 18 months from now. I'd let the media and the punditry agonize over it and do some work for me. In the meantime I would have my "non-candidate" making speeches while keeping up with the non-denial denials about his candidacy. It will drive the punditry crazy, which is a good thing. Play them like a violin.

26. I saw it as well.
They talked about the importance of national security credentials and the importance of being a "heavy hitter" in the '08 elections.

I certainly agree with that conclusion. The world is falling apart in more ways than one.

Please no, please no. You must be speaking of someone else, right? Any friend of Karl is no friend of mine, and I so much want Gore to run and get elected and actually take office this time around.

19. She was probably talking about Roy Neel.
That happened in April. He was already in TN, though, teaching at Vanderbilt.

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2006/04/17/gore_hires_former_campaign_aide.html

"Al Gore is getting the band back together," Ben Smith reports. The former Vice President "is hiring Roy Neel, a key aide on his 2000 presidential campaign and the manager of Howard Dean's 2004 run, to coordinate a new push on his main cause, global warming."

Gore has a new movie and book out about global warming, but Neel's role "is not connected to the book or film, but to a broader agenda."

"Gore has said he's not thinking about 2008 at the moment, but putting a political staff back together inches him that much closer toward being able to run for President. (Also reported today, his campaign committee has also written a check to a pollster, though they say it's a debt from 2000.)"

22. WHICH ADVISOR??????
Please tell me he's not going to let Donna Brazile anywhere near his campaign if he runs.... please tell me that. I know she was his campaign manager last time and not his "advisor", per se, but...

Just tell me it ain't her. Neither she nor Bob Shrum should be anywhere near any Democrat's campaign this time out, imo.

She is also associated with a PNAC-type group that advocates gun boat diplomacy.

24. FYI
And this was shocking to me too, but I saw Shrum interviewed on one of the TV quack-festivals and he was defending Lamont's right to challenge an incumbent. It was in response to the news that Bubba was supporting Lieberman in the primary. Shrum said that Bubba needs to understand people are entitled and it makes sense to vote for an anti-war Dem, and that Bubba forgets he supported Robert Kennedy a long time ago.

Something I never expected to hear uttered from his pie hole.

25. Shrum also critiqued Liebermen's debate performance against Lamont
He said that he wished Lieberman had been as aggressive against Dick Cheney in the 2000 debate as he was against Ned Lamont during the July 6 debate.

Shrum must being going through his lucid period.
