Tomorrow and next week. What say the Democrats?
On tomorrow's news programs and in the first couple days or so of next week, will we hear Democrats of many stripes define the current Middle East crisis as the consequence of George W. Bush's negligence?

Or will only one or two likely 08 candidates weigh in?

And how will they frame the issue?

Centuries-old conflagration waiting to happen?

Bush's failed foreign policies?

Condoleeza Rice's negligent stewardship at State?

Rumsfield's short-sighted, head-up-the-ass assault on Iraq destabilizing the entire region?

Rally 'round the president?

Calls for Bush to replace his Cabinet with more competent, knowledgeable people?

Democratic endorsement of the global war on terror?

Variations of these? All of these? None of these?

What are your thoughts?

1. I know what they SHOULD say:
Put commercials together based around the clip of bush boasting that "the world is safer - under MY leadership" and intersperse repeats of THAT clip with news footage of all the shit going to hell all over the place. Make sure the datelines are easy to read along the bottom of the screen - Beirut, Damascus, Gaza, Haifa, Baghdad, the Philipines, Madrid after the train terror, London after its terrorist strikes, Fallujah, Haditha, more Israel, more West Bank, more Gaza, more Beirut...

And then break the bank buying commercial time on every TV outlet you can find.

THAT'S what they should do. If it's okay for kkkarl to attack his opponents at their strong points, and it's okay to attack decorated combat veterans from Vietnam - ON THEIR combat records and Purple Hearts, then it's okay to go after the republi-CONS where they're allegedly strong - on national security. Yeah, sure. WHAT national security?

And maybe I'd end it with a graphic - "Feeling any safer, really?"

Hold on that graphic for a beat, and then fade in, underneath it - "Isn't it time for a change?"

2. You're hired as Democratic Media Consultant, calimary. That is one
potent ad proposal.

And it would put the GOP on the defensive all over the country overnight.

3. I hope they can figure out something substantive
to say. There are also a few domestic issues that need to be brought up. Remember stem cell research? The pretzeldent doesn't want us to find a cure for anything. Remember the economy? Remember health care?

4. Agreed. We have to keep hammering the GOP on all those.
The Dems' morning radio address today was on stem cell research.
