I want a fight
I'm aching for a real fight. You know. Brass knuckles. Bicycle chains. Zip guns. Rolls of quarters. Sharks and Jets.

Us against them.

Wimpy Dems? Just stay on the porch and watch as your boys kick some ass.

We might be outgunned, but we will NOT be outmanned. Many more of us are pissed off than them.

I want to kick someone smack in the balls. I want broken noses and bloody mouths.

I know I'll get hit, too. But that's okay. I took it before and I'll take it again. I'm an old son of a bitch. Cunning and guile - and righteous anger - will go along with my still functioning arms and legs to make me victorious. This may be my last fight. But it will, BY GAWD, be my best fight.

Its time, people. No more 'reaching out'. No more bipartisanship. If that's what you want, then stay there. On the porch.

We MUST get it done and get it done now. This is a fight that is long overdue. This fight started in 1994. Newt. Remember him? 1994. Remember Richard Mellon Sciafe? Remember Ken Star? Remember them? They kicked our ass. Rove, Cheney, Bush? They just reaped the benefits of the '94 dustup. They're chumps. We can take them.

Paybacks are hell and I want to put a whole ton of hell on their asses.

Fuck 'nice'. Fuck 'fair'.

I REALLY want a fight. I want them DOWN.

Who's with me?

1. Seriously, I think that you've got the spirit that more dems need.
In fact, unless more dems get cranky like you are and drop this piss ant persona of 'nice', I think we're gonna go down in flames again. Even if we do win the elections (if you know what I mean).

...in Palestine and Israel and much of the rest of the middle-east for over 60 years and look where it has taken them to today. Cooler heads, rule of law and the will of the people at the polls in November is the better way. But keep the passion it provides the force and momentum.

Kick those Republican swine, along with their politics of smear and lies, out of D.C. for good. I want to see the American public disown them to such an extent that Bush, Cheney, Ken Mehlman, Bill Frist, Dennis Hastert, as well as every smarmy, young Republican dweeb congressional staffer, will have no choice but to work behind a counter at McDonald's or Burger King, taking orders for cheeseburgers with no pickles, in order to make a living.

I swear to whatever holy fucking godhead impulse or silly divine deity that may be lurking around the corner and driving these ideas, but Sweetie and I had this conversation last night, and we were just talking about that conversation when I opened your message thread:

"Well, it's about time for the big revolution to begin in this country. It's gonna be kinda like the Civil War."

"Yeah, the Southern 'slave owning' population are now the 'christian' right-wing fundie whack-job brain-dead conservative assholes. With all this horror now in Israel and Lebanon, it'll only be a matter of time before someone tries to blow up the Temple or some other stupid shit. That will be their cue."

"The dynamic will be the same as it was 150 years ago. We've go the numbers, but they've got the will to fight, defending an insane upside-down to reality belief system."

"It'll be brother against brother just like it always is. It's Issaac against Ishmael in the Middle East, it'll be Jim-Bob against Brucie here. "

"I say this time, we slaughter all the stupid people and morans and don't give them a chance to resurge ever again. It's the backwash. There aren't as many of them as the noise they make, and they're really the ones who are the pussies. Half of them will just cave in once the shit REALLY hits the fan!"

"That's what they want you to say. That's the victimization they need to thrive. Congratulations, you've just played their game, and have dealt them a winning hand!"

"I know, I know. But whaddya do other than scrape the scum out of the bottom of the gene pool, and throw it away with the rest of the garbage?"

"A thing to remember is that we now live in a civilization where 'Justice' has been trumped by 'Law' and yet 'Law' is only for those with no 'Power.' If you've got enough 'Power' you can pretty much do what you want. It's time to forget about 'Law' and somehow get to a world of 'Justice.' Somehow. We've got more 'Power' than we know."

"But first we have to scrape the scum out of the gene pool?"

"Yeah, pretty much..."

"It's not really Democrats versus Republicans, though."

"You're right. It's Logic versus Insanity. Those people do not live in the same reality as most of us. It's really kind of sad, and I wish we could all just get along. But that ain't gonna happen. They've got BIG fucking mouths and they're not afraid to spew their verbal crap all over. And they do it to destroy polite society, of which they are NOT a part!"

"The part that I find really fucked up is that Capitalism is playing the enabler in all of this."

"Well, that's because Capitalism KNOWS that there are not enough resources on the planet to sustain this many human beings at rising standards of living. Capitalism is actually causing this shake up in order to kill of as many people as possible. 2007 and 2008 are going to be the bloodiest years in human history. And, it will be done at a profit and we are the consumers of all this horror. George Bush is merely the empty vessel used to bring this all into being. He's a tool. And the Democrats know all this. They'll be elected in 2008 to clean up the mess, and then the cycle will begin again. Contraction/ Expansion. Contraction/Expansion. Same old story."

"So, what does a person who thinks and who cares do with all of this?"

"Do the right thing. That's all you can do. It's time to ignore the law, because that's what they do. Stop paying your fucking taxes and stop using your fucking credit cards. Stop playing the game. Really. Send Capitalism a message that you will not consume this from them anymore. Voting with our dollars has become more important than the ballot box. Just do the right thing, and if for you that includes whatever means are necessary to 'clean the scum out of the bottom of the gene pool' then that's what you gotta do. But just make sure you're doing the right thing. Be nice to old people and animals. Say please and thank you. And do what you can to make certain that the crazies never turn this shining palace into a looney-bin ever again!!!"

Something like that...

"Wimpy Dems? Just stay on the porch and watch as your boys kick some ass."

Your desire to resort to violence to fight a battle which needs to be fought and won ideologically, not physically, is the epitome of weakness.

Seriously, what do you think you are accomplishing by trying to whip people here into a frenzy? So, you have your glorious fight... then what?

If my refusal to embrace the violent mentality that many on the right have embraced makes me a wimpy Dem, then so be it.

You think Ken Starr and Richard "Mr. Burns" Scaife kicked our asses? I don't.

The impeachment of President Clinton was little more than a failed attempt to unseat him. In the end, the effort cost the Republicans who pursued it their jobs and their reputations. I call that a welcome result.

The only thing the Republicans can claim they acheived by impeaching Bill Clinton is that they made those who hated Bill Clinton before impeachment hate him a little bit more. In other words, no significant effect.

The list goes on ......

They also caused otherwise uninformed people to know that Bill got a blowjob and that became blowback against Gore.

I see it differently. They did, indeed, give us an ass kicking. Not fatal (yet). But a severe ass kicking.

31. I'll take a nickel-bag of whatever it is you're smoking!
That impeachment proceeding set the stage for what will be the most destructive 8-year reign in this country's hisory. There was also the added effect of the reveleations of Clinton's conduct souring a lot of Democrats (the ones he didn't already turn off with his NAFTA/Welfare Reform Act/Media Dergulation/and other Republican-friendly legislation barrage) off to him.

And his hanging out with Papa Bush is destroying what's left of credibility for his legacy.

Is this a "welcome result", too?

Not for me, it isn't.That "Impeachment" proceeding and Republican-policy kiss-up was the complete waste of what could have been an historic Presidency.

21. you said it was the "creepiest thread"
I posted the text below on a thread. You, H2S, posted that it was the creepiest thread you'd ever read here. An interesting progression.

What to do. How to live.

In at least two previous times in American history, our people grappled with the same kinds of panic -- the American Revolution and the Civil War. Choices were made that split families and destroyed friendships. One path was liberty for all, even if it meant giving one's life, one's fortune, one's sacred honor. The other path was allegiance to power and privilege.

This is our moment. The reality is beginning to sink in. Families will be ripped apart by the choices. Americans will be jailed. Fortunes will be lost. Life will not be the same as it has been. The truth is that "normalcy" is slipping away. The choice is forced upon us.

We are panicked because we don't know what to do; how to protect our loved ones. I believe there are four steps that will empower us.

1. Name the evil. Face it. Call it what it is. We live under an elite oligarchy with increasingly tyrannical intent. Define it as you will, but name it truthfully.

2. Find your particular task in the struggle. Some can only roll bandages. Some can be leaders and speak in the public square. Some can raise dissidents. Some can write pamphlets that will shake the system. Some can make tea and provide comfort. Find your task and devote yourself to it.

3. If you cannot be on the front lines, provide support and comfort to those who are. Offer your resources and energies to prophets and warriors for truth, to help them with their work.

4. But even more: Come together intimately with likeminded people. Commit to the possibility of raising each others' children, sharing your home, offering passage, whatever is needed. Think back to the models of the Underground Railroad and the Sons of Liberty and the Civil Rights battles. Americans will protect liberty with solidarity.

It's a new day. We're needed, each one.

49. I remember that thread
And yes, it was creepy. A form of civil Armeggedon.

To be thoughtful (as opposed to inciteful, as *this* thread was), I think the Armeggedon will much more likely take the form of some discovery of common ground by those on both sides who still cherish reason over violence.

In this thread, my call for a fight was metaphorical. In reality, the fight will be waged based on reason and the discovery of that common ground we all know is out there. The country will *never* be in full agreement on anything, even if we outlast the Roman Empire a thousandfold. The breakthrough will come when we **deescalate** the rhetoric and the rancor of politics and return to (or finally arrive at) a mutually desired civil discourse and debate.

I lay blame for the rancor fully at the feet of the Republicans, starting mainly in 1994 and mainly by Newt Gingrich - aided and abetted by what Hillary Clinton very rightly termed a 'vast right wing conspiracy'.

My only quarrel with Dems that I can fairly mount is that we failed to stand up to them. We did, indeed, cave in to them.

I don't know what it will take to end the escalative nature of this fight, but it will happen when those on **both** sides of the fight come to that most sacred of places: Common Ground.

While there is little, if anything at all, on which I can base some commonality with those who have stolen ou government, I know with every bit of my reason and soul that I can find much in common with many rank and file (and now pretty disenchanted) Republicans. Things like the rule of law. Things like fiscal responsibility. Things like honest government of a size minimally required to meet its duties to society. Things like reduced government intrustion into our lives. Things like religious freedem, including the right to a freedom from religion.

No, the issue today is the quest for power in place of governance. The quest for concentrated wealth instead of the common weal. There's nothing inherently evil about a Republican. But there is nothing BUT evil in the face of the Republican Party today.

72. First... I Live In Florida & SECOND My Representative Is Cruella....
Katherine H, herself which should give you some indication as to how very RED this county is!

I have trouble even finding enough people who are willing to go along with me on much of anything. I have done a lot, but Democrats here just don't seem to be extremely active. I CAN'T remember the names of even TWO people who have been a city commissioner. This is one reason I'm ALWAYS so willing to join up with those who are more like-minded.

Local Democratic groups around here are a bit lame and from all the meetings and groups I've connected with I generally coma away feeling pretty frustrated.

There is a meeting next week that I'm going to go to... so far 5 people have agreed to attend. It's the MoveOn.org media blitz. I'm not expecting much, but SOMEONE has to show up! I'm not a shrinking violet, but even people I meet up with seem to pull back when I ask them to go with me and get more active.

I'm TIRED of pushing the envelope and having many think I'm some kind of kook who REALLY wants to pull out the long knives. It would BE nice just to have another "soul" to come along with me just to hand out SOME KIND of flyer! I have neighbors who ARE Democrats and I HAVE bugged them to death, but in the end I generally "go alone!" There are even a couple of DU'ers here but I've had no luck in getting them to join me.

Ya know it's much nicer to have a friend along with you, at least one of us can watch out for the opposition throwing tomatoes! It's such a turn-off and very depressing!

63. Wrong- all the Gay folks I know are ready to kick ass.
Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 03:13 PM by Dr Fate
"Lispy voice" pertains to the weak-kneed, Politically correct-to-a-fault, NPR announcer, Mr. Rogers, nice guy approach to politics.

I should have added "timid" and "shakey" as descriptive terms as well.

Now the name you called me- I would love to see Elected Democrats be that agressive towards Republicans- so it looks like you are not against "fighting" after all!

I'm not scared of homosexuals- I'm scared of Republicans and I'm scared of the fact that too many lispy-voiced Democrats, straight or gay, are afraid to fight those Republicans.

76. PC gone wild again- it's a metaphor. Ever watch TV?
Ever thought about the fact that voters prefer Clint Eastwood to Mr. Rogers?

"Make my day, punk" spoken in a husky drawl gets more votes than "Please be my neighbor" in a shakey, lispy voice. Voters like tough guys- it's a fact. (Again- this is a METAPHOR)

I'm more concerened with getting my point across- If I offend a few NPR announcers and other timid people, so be it.

Many excuse makers & apologists will attack YOU in an effort to cover for these DEMS who refuse to fight- so be careful.

Be prepared for the most creative excuses as to why DEM A or DEM X cant bring themsleves to fight- You will note that they will have more excuses for why we cant fight than actuals ways TO fight.

I'm with ya though- keep on talking!!!

If you are talking about an effort to pressure actual elected Democrats to go on TV and start punching some throats, you have a long road ahead of you with most in the party- but I'll back you up.

Go ahead- post some threads with some actual, specific examples of how specific, elected Democrats could go on TV and call Bush a "criminal" or a "liar" or "impeachable"- I'll bet you will get as many excuses for why it cant happen as people backing you up.

You will even be accused of forcing the Democrats to lose more elections- I'll bet cha money.

Talk about excuses and denials and weak-assed arguments. I was so pissed after that I coulda spit. Or worse.

The good activists on the ground have been agressive against Bush/media since Clinton's impeachment.

The only DEMS I know of who dont want to fight are elected DEMS, media pundit DEMS and some DUers- I NEVER meet actual Democrats who think like that at meetings or on the bus/in grocery lines, etc.

How many YEARS does the activist/Donor base have to BEG the elected & media DEMS to start punching some throats b/f they start doing it???

54. VERY well said!
You're so very right. I have not met a placid Democrat in a long damned time. Every one I meet is pissed off. I mean really fucking mad. Wet hornet mad. Junk yard dog mad.

But then, maybe its just me. Maybe I get them that pissed off cuz **I'm** that pissed off.

I've gotten people all riled up in gas stations while filling up. In grocery lines while checking out and looking at magzine covers. At business meetings (I can't shut up, even when I'm with clients ..... if they don't like me, that's their problem; there's more than enough work out there.)

The funny thing is, when I meet Repuiblicans, they're **not** pissed off. They're not smug, either. They mostly look shell shocked or disillusioned.

We CAN win this thing. We just gotta want it and be willing to do what it takes.

I'm already pretty weary of it. I can't seem to find anybody engaged in it that isn't a raving fucking kool aid drinking fanatic. Their way or else.

When we say we want to fight- we mean we want to actually chllenge Republicans and media types, to their faces, when they lie, steal or commit treason.

A lot of us have the perception that most elected & media DEMS just sit by and let them "hit" us w/o ever "hitting back."

Would that not be "starting something GOOD?"

Here is a plan- dont lie & forge your way into wars- and dont lie to the American people on a daily basis.

But first we have to punch these crooks in the throat to get there.

Wha? You think they will give up their power if we play nice?

No one is talking hippie aquarius stuff here, we are using metaphors and talking about engaging in old-time, agressive Harry Truman style politics.

We have turned into a nation of wimps.

Everyone is sitting at his/her keyboard and flaming others, opines about topics they have no knowledge, lecturing to others thousands of miles aways and oh feeling so good about themselves.

Politicians do what they please because no one bothers to attend a government meeting. Everything is done via cyberspace which is so easy to ignore.

The only people who actually went out were the immigrants - legal and illegal - earlier this year. This is what people care about: their immediate surroundings. Food and shelter and jobs. Most do not care about wars in far away countries, not about Bush lies. If they do they... go to their computers, click and nod and feel virtuous.
