Hello. I have a question about Joe Lieberman.
Other than the Iraq War and religious issues, how else has Joe Lieberman sided with George Bush?

1. Sen. Joesph I. Lieberman (D-CT)
Waffling on Net Neutrality
Call Sen. Lieberman now at 202-224-4041
Say: "I urge Senator Lieberman to protect Net Neutrality, which prevents the largest phone and cable companies from turning the Internet into a private tollway. Senators Olympia Snowe and Byron Dorgan plan to offer a pro-Net Neutrality amendment to Senator Stevens' telecommunications bill (S. 2686) on the Senate floor. I urge the Senator to support the Snowe-Dorgan Net Neutrality amendment. Please vote 'no' on S. 2686 unless language is added that prohibits broadband network operators from creating a tiered Internet."

On May 2, the Senator made this statement:
"Any congressional efforts to reform telecommunications law must not result in higher prices for consumers. For that reason, I support efforts to increase competition in the telecommunications marketplace in order to achieve lower costs for consumers. Please be assured that I will keep your views in mind should legislation affecting net neutrality come before the full Senate for debate."

2. What 'religious issues'? The morning after pill? Social Security?
The refusal to vote against cloture for wingnut Supreme Court Justices? The constant jumping to Bush's defense and suggestions that Dems who do not support the war are hurting our troops and helping terrorists? I'm sure others will give you more.

3. I know he was on Shrub's side until the very last minute on
privatizing SS. He also has spoken out against allowing the morning after pill to be offered to rape victims in all emergency rooms. Hi said "everyone drives and there are lots of hospitals in Ct. Just drive to another hospital!

I know there have been a lot more, but those come to mind right now.

5. I'm sure a woman who has been raped would have a calm presence
of mind and could just drive herself or ride a bus or catch a train to whatever hospital that might give the morning after pill if she just happened to have a memorized list in the back of her mind.

You go, Joe, straight home and sit on it!

I was so very, very disappointed when Gore put this religious nut on the ticket. He dragged the ticket down but Gore still won. Imagine what a landslide a young John Edwards would have brought.

7. I was thinking the same thing.
I imagine Gore has beaten himself up over this poor choice. Had he gone with Edwards or Kerry they would have won by a much wider margin and bushco could not have stolen it. I imagine its one of the greatest regrets of his life!

8. Lieberman probably did help Gore win Fl. But he should have picked Graham
In retrospect, it is hard to imagine Lieberman energizing anyone, but he really did help in Florida, more than Edwards or Kerry would have. Bob Graham would have helped more, though.

4. The Bankruptcy Act. n/t
Let Alito go to the floor then negitiated (gang of 14) against the filibuster, then displayed the massive hypocrisy to vote against him.

6. Bush's court nominees.
Every one of his ultra right wing nominees have been approved by the Senate. In no small part due to Lieberman's help. Lieberman took the only weapon we had, filibuster, and gave it away. Pathetic.

9. opposes universal health care
voted for massive tax subsidies for oil companies,
approved of federal intervention in Terri Schiavo matter,
supports school vouchers,
calls criticism of the president perilous to the nation,
thinks hospitals should be able to refuse to dispense emergency contraceptives to rape victims,
thought clinton's behavior was worthy of censure, but not Bush's.

11. Lieberman is outside the Democratic mainstream
He is far to the right of Hillary Clinton!

We all expected him to vote against Kerry-Feingold Iraq exit resolution, but that wasn't good enough for Holy Joe.

We all expected him to vote against the centrist Iraq plan-for-an-exit-at-a-future-date-to-be-determined resolution that Durbin introduced and Hillary voted for, but that wasn't good enough for Holy Joe.

Instead of doing the Democratic thing, Holy Joe was the star speaker for Bill Frist's stay the course in Iraq resolution. Holy Joe accused all the Democrats of being defeatists and giving aid and comfort to terrorism.

By the time Holy Joe announced he was going to run as an independent against the Democratic nominee in November, we weren't surprised that Holy Joe had betrayed all the Jedis and joined the Evil Emperor against the rebellion.

:P
