Bloomberg "News" Foreshadowing bush Tribunal Strategy
Bushco does this Every Single Time. When they are slapped upside the head by a power check or public outrage, they respond by saying they'll turn it into a "political victory." Get a couple quotes from their minions in the House or the Senate, draft some unconstitutional legislation, yada, yada, you know the drill.

Look at this disgraceful reporting (and further down, my response to the so-called reporter):

Bush May Turn Legal Setback on Guantanamo Into a Political Win

June 30 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush, rebuked by the Supreme Court for his anti-terror policy, may try to use a major legal setback to win a political victory.

Bush, responding to yesterday's high court decision that using military commissions to try terrorist suspects is unlawful, said he would ask Congress for legal authority to operate the tribunals.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, pledged to craft legislation addressing the court's ruling that tribunals weren't explicitly authorized by Congress and didn't adequately protect the rights of the accused. Democrats such as Senator Carl Levin of Michigan said they would cooperate.

Congress will give Bush ``a win because he was in his rights,'' said Senator Trent Lott, a Mississippi Republican. ``It could be a victory for him, and certainly the American people will be outraged again by the Supreme Court.''

I wrote their reporter, rschmidt:

You obviously don't realize it but there are people who watch the bush propaganda machine quite intently. As a result, it's rather easy to spot reporters...err "reporters" such as yourself, who obviously rip 'n read the bush administration's talking points.

Every time this administration is dealt the backhand by checks on power that were built in to the American system, their standard response is "we'll turn it in into a political victory."

This is STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE for these people and by putting their spin directly into an article, you've revealed yourself to be a hack.

Disgraceful reporting. Absolutely disgraceful.

1. I don't understand; Bloomberg is "really" a Democrat.
Or so some DUers insist.

Seems to me we're confusing our junk journalism with junk government.

At least here in NYC.
