Conason: A Shameful Silence on Coulter's Spewing
Not to give any more time to the rantings of a she-demon, but Joe's comments are worth noting in pointing out the silence of those who received support from the Jersey Girls.

- But her version of “Christianity” turns out to be a strangely modern and convenient faith, which encourages heaping scorn on bereaved widows, bearing false witness against them on television and publicly gloating over the ill-gotten profits thus attained. Leaving behind the golden rule of the Gospels to “do unto others as you would have them do to you,” she embodies a new rule of gold: You can never be too rich, too thin or too vicious.

Too vicious, however, is the only way to categorize Ms. Coulter’s attempted assassination of the 9/11 widows known as the Jersey Girls, whom she accuses of “enjoying” the horrific deaths of their husbands in the World Trade Center inferno. She harangues them as “broads,” “witches” and “millionaires,” guilty of being “self-obsessed” and “reveling in their status as celebrities” while they are “lionized on TV and in articles about them.” -

....

- John McCain and Joseph Lieberman, the Senate sponsors of the bill that created the 9/11 Commission, both believed that an independent investigation was essential for reasons of honor and national security. They both know that they could not have prevailed against the White House—and the Republican Congressional leadership—without the help of the widows. -

....

- Shame on the silent Senators. And please, let’s hear no more from either of them for a while about tolerance, respect and decency. -

1. The silence of those who oppose Coulter makes them complicit
in her attacks, and remove any moral high-ground they may have held or thought they held in the past. In the 60's we had an addage that said if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. I believe that is the case here. Anyone who hasn't said loudly and publicly that what she said was abbhorrent to them, and uncivilized to the point of sociopathy has tacitly agreed with her and her immoral attacks.

Period.

3. And shame on the silent media
When Fahrenheit 9/11 came out, every Democrat on every talk show was forced to denounce Michael Moore and the alleged inaccuracies of his documentary. Naturally, Moore himself was never asked on these programs to speak for himself.

And yet, GOP mouthpieces, administrative hacks, and all manner of Republican officials dominate the discussions on the airwaves, and none of the blow-dried pompadour set can ask them the first question about Coulter and her mean little squirts of bile. Bill Frist isn't buttonholed about whether he thinks the 9/11 widows are witches. Dennis Hastert doesn't have to answer any questions about how much these women are enjoying their celebrity status. And Coulter herself is invited on to leave another little slime trail and make fun of the people who take offense to her gibberish.

Shame on the popular media, too.

4. Hillary Clinton is a senator who spoke up about the vile...
Coulter. Of course Rush and friends vilified Hillary for speaking out.

6. Hello, Pot? This Is Kettle Calling
"She harangues them as “broads,” “witches” and “millionaires,” guilty of being “self-obsessed” and 'reveling in their status as celebrities” while they are “lionized on TV and in articles about them.'” -

I think that this is the most perfect description of Ann herself.
