Murtha slaps down Republican punk
The idiot Republican slandering Murtha in this exchange is freshman Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas. Audio at the link.

http://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/06/house-republican-says-america-would-be.html

Rep. Gohmert: Let me close by saying some have not had nice things to say about our colleague Mr. Murtha, and others wanting to pull out of Iraq quickly. I understand the faithful visitation that he does routinely. So i say thank god for his big heart. I say thank god for his compassion. Thank god for his visits to the wounded. Thank god for his ministering to grieving families. But thank god he was not here and prevailed after the bloodbaths at Normandy and in the Pacific or we would be here speaking Japanese or German. Thank you.

Rep. Murtha: Was the gentleman at any of those locations? Either at normandy or any of those locations?

Rep. Gohmert: You want to know which locations?

Rep. Murtha: Yeah. Normandy?

Rep. Murtha: I say were you there?

Rep. Gohmert: No, sir. I wasn't.

Rep. Murtha: Were you in Vietnam?

Rep. Gohmert: No, sir.

Rep. Murtha: Iraq?

Rep. Gohmert: No. I have been over there. I haven't been fighting.

Rep. Murtha: Boots on the ground?

Rep. Gohmert: I do admire the gentleman's compassion and all he has done for our wounded. He has done a great service that would be you, Mr. Murtha.

3. These are sad GOP elitists who think they have the same depth
as those who actually served. It's a GOP thing, you don't really have had to serve to be an expert.

What a put down to Americans who did serve, suffer, and feel. It's a part of the elitist Bushy syndrome.

4. Gohmert's official bio says
that he was a captain in the Army. Doesn't say what he did in the Army.

http://gohmert.house.gov/biography.htm

Louie Gohmert received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, where he was Class President and served as a Brigade Commander of the Corps of Cadets. He was also Class President while attending Baylor School of Law. He is a veteran having served his country as Captain in the U.S. Army as a result of an Army scholarship at Texas A&M.

5. Gohmert is a tool...
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 01:25 AM by Daylin Byak
Every night before he goes to bed he should thank god for Tom DeLay for getting a job in Congress cause if it wasn't for him redrawing the district lines to heavily favor republicans then Gohmert would still be a judge in Tyler.

Murtha did good today. The repukes were shooting bullets at him and he dodged those bullets in the rebuttals, it even got to the point where Murtha was about to strangle one of them.

It was a good debate today and it shows that no matter what Repukes favor the killing of soldiers over admitting that them and there fearless leader was wrong onto going to iraq.(that's why they wanted to talk about the war on terror and not iraq as a whole)

6. I hate them for either their ignorance or greed.

They are either too stupid to grasp the significance of the issues or they are more likely paid to shill their support for the * administration. (Sadly, that includes some Dems, too.) We need to send these whores home. They do not represent any of us (red/blue/conservative/liberal/American) with this great charade in the People’s House today.

That is why I don’t contribute to all-encompassing organizations. I only contribute when I can afford it to people that speak for me, no matter where they are because it all comes back.

Having said that I would probably contribute to the Howard Dean 50 State fund before I would ever offer any support to the Schumer (Senate) or Emanuel (House) efforts to maintain the status quo of their respective incumbents. They are both corrupted by corporate money that from my experience marks them as unreliable to progressive interests.

12. to say nothing about the idiocy of Gohmert's argument...
he's essentially saying that the situation and conditions re: Iraq are the same as those in World War II.

Why didn't he point out that, thanks to people like Murtha, we are all speaking Korean and Vietnamese instead of English today?

Ridiculous.

16. CNN also playing a great clip of Murtha where he shames the R's for saying
"Stay the course," as it is easy for them to say this as they are not the soldiers on the ground, but sit safely in Congress.

Surely they is a clip of this somewhere. Dare we hope to see it played over and over on cable news.
