Is Gov. Gary Locke a good VP choice?
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 01:17 PM by Bleachers7
I live in NY so I don't know a lot about what goes on in WA. He seems to be a bright, good guy. Is that true? Is he a good VP pick?

1. He's bright, but do you remember his "Response" to the SOTU last
year? It was wimpy, tepid & spineless. He's a decent & intelligent fellow, but comes across as a weakling. I also don't think he stands for anything in particular -- sort of a generic bland Democrat.

2. The VP should be one of Clark, Edwards or Kerry

These 3 have already had tons of media exposure that will be valuable in the GE. Not to mention their obvious qualifications, especially Clark and Edwards.

3. He's very unpopular in WA state right now as are most gov's
caught up in Bush's deficit spending. States are all hurting. He isn't very animated so NO.

4. Never heard of him. Two nor'easterners on the same ticket?
Does Kerry WANT to lose the south intentionally?

7. As a WA resident, let me say:
NO. Locke isn't a good VP choice for anyone. As governors go, he's been acceptable, but not a standout. He has a very bad habit of getting little done by allowing the state legislature to lead, instead of doing the leading himself. For me personally, he's been a huge disappointment as governor.

9. have to agree--no
from what I understand, he's had to forgo a re-election run because he knew he would probably lose the primary
