This latest story about the letter that Luskin received from Fitz is utter bull if you think about it. Why would Fitz let Rove off the hook when Rove knew for months that he had "misspoke himself" to the Grand Jury without changing his testimony (Vivek Novak talked to Luskin in the spring, Rove did not correct testimony until the fall) unless there is more to the story that we have not heard--like maybe Rove is cooperating against Cheney.
Anyway, this is a nonstory. It is just the latest volley in a battle Rove started when they decided to brief Congress about Haditha ONE WEEK before the Rolling Stone was scheduled to release RFK Jr's monumemtally important article about how Ohio 2004 was stolen. Skrimishes in that battle which Rove could have easily helped coordinate include 2. Sudden gay marriage crisis 3. Canada's new conservative regime rounds up muslims 4. Ann Coulter opens mouth 5. Military bombs Zarqawi.
Then, this weekend, the NYT says "OMG, RFK JR is correct." Another editor says "Oh, dear, we were all wrong to ignore this story for a week." Stephen Colbert interviews RFK Jr. last night. You would have to be a dimbulb on the order of Dumbya himself not to anticipate that Rove would fire a counterattack.
So, today we hear that Rove will not be indicted. This is news designed to distract, distract, distract all left-moderate bloggers and journalists, filling their columns with Rove, Rove, Rove. Those stories that they might have contemplated about RFK Jr. will be pushed to the back burner. And Rove will come up with some more bullshit news.
Why? He isnt afraid of being indicted for Ohio 2004. Al Gonzales at the DOJ will never prosecute anyone for that. The Voting Rights Act has not been enforced in this country since 2000. However, Rove is scared to death that people will find out HOW he and Blackwell disenfranchised hundreds of thousands of Ohio citizens in 2004, and that if they do, they will take steps to keep him from doing it again this year. And this would be serious trouble for him, because without systematic voter disenfranchisement and E-vote fraud the Republicans do not have a snow balls chance in hell of retaining control of both houses of Congress.
All Rove has to do is stall the media until this fall. If they want to start covering RFK Jr. and Ohio 2004 in, say, late September or October by then it will be too late to prevent the theft of yet another election. So, Rove plans to control the agenda of the news media, even the so called free press, with his propaganda.
Do not be fooled. Every time a story comes out of this White House examine it from every angle. Ask yourself "What is its purpose? Why is it here, now? What other story could I be thinking about instead?"
Do not let Rove/Goebels tell you what news is fit to read.
