This website put out incorrect information regarding US Congressman Jim Davis. It was said here today...see Bob Graham supporting Davis thread.

"I must support Jim Davis because Rod Smith is for the death penalty." Well so is Jim Davis. But because Rod Smith acutally works in the senate in FLA...I think it only fair to post what Rod has proposed in this area of legislation. This board is not a hack site for candidates...we are all dems! I think the tombstone award should go to the guy in the Bob Graham thread...for making people on that thread..including me, believe that Jim Davis does not support the death penalty. He does...and that was incorrect.

Rod is pro-death penalty but has been the Senate’s leader in ensuring that it is applied in a more fair manner:

- DNA testing, even for inmates on death row from years prior to DNA testing being available



· Rod Smith supports steps that will make the application of the death penalty fair - he successfully sponsored legislation to ban the execution of mentally retarded persons in Florida and supports requiring DNA testing for all death penalty cases. Senator Smith believes that we need to increase competence of attorneys handling death row by requiring each case to have an attorney certified with experience on death penalty cases.
