There's someone from New York who I think will be President
or Vice President someday in the not too far off future. His name is Eliot Spitzer.

This guy just grows on you. I don't know if he's the future of our Party or not, but at the very least he's gotta be considered a rising Democratic star.

If you're not familiar with him yet, get ready because I think he's gonna be a major topic of discussion in the coming years ahead on DU. Wadda ya think?

2. Spitzer does have possibilities.
We'll see what happens.

Hopefully, he will distance himself from the New Republic types who sing his praises as the next anti-liberal Democratic hero.

3. Spitzer is awesome...
But he doesn't have anything (yet) that people on here can latch onto and obsess over. To simply stand up for truth and justice with ones actions without seeking publicity is not enough on here, sadly enough.

Isn't he running for something in NY now?

14. I will take courage, honor, honesty, service, any day over party.
And over some of the sorry A** Dems in Congress.

And an Irish Catholic a Repug? I don't believe it.
In his heart and soul he is one of us.

16. Spitzer is a DEM, period. Clark was considering him for his running mate
if he had gotten the 2004 Democratic Primary nod.

In June 2005, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson hailed Eliot Spitzer as "the future of the (Democratic) party." Retired General Wesley Clark, 2004 presidential candidate, said in 2003 that he would consider asking Spitzer to be his vice-president.

6. I agree
I think he will engender the absolute hatred of the right-wing cabal that's been behind the Bush throne. He has taken on the financial services and insurance fields and does not appear scared about taking on other powerful interests. I think the cabal's hatred of him will surpass anything we saw them do to Clinton and Kerry.

8. I LIKE Spitzer
I've followed his career for a while, and he seems to be a straight arrow, the kind of fellow we need in Washington.

12. Spitzer got my attention some time ago.
I like his spunk. We could use a few more gutsy leaders. Hope he can fight his way to the top.

18. It seems to me like he's got it all...talent, savvy, charisma, leadership,
honesty, dignity, family, and personality plus, which doesn't hurt in today's game of politics. One of his main MO's all along is that he goes after the corporate big boys if they're even borderline corrupt. For example, if someone cheats on their environmental regulations....Spitzer will be all over them like flies on poop. The more I see and hear this guy, the more I think he's presidential material. Like I said in the OP, he just grows on ya. Check him out sometime if you get a chance. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

23. I don't really see it. He's done more with the job...
than Bob Abrams did. Abrams, (as NYS atty gen) sat around like a head of lettuce while corrupt pols ( many DEMS included) stole the city and state blind during the 80s.

And he's an improvement over the Republican who replaced Abrams.... Vacco(?); but that's not saying much.

Spitzer seems to avoid saying anything noteworthy in the public policy area. This is key to success in NY State (Clinton, Schumer, etc.) but I doubt will play well nationally.

Let's see what kind of governor he is... if in fact he becomes one.

Edited on Thu Jun-01-06 09:31 PM by Old Crusoe
And by god, I'd VOTE for Yo Yo Ma.

Spitzer? The man has an electrical charge. I think he's about to be elected governor of New York unanimously!

And I agree with your look down the road: Spitzer is going to be a major player.
