Poll question: Hypothetical Re: Rep Jefferson....
I believe I recall Chairman Dean saying point blank (sometime last week) when he was on with Wolf Blitzer that if Rep. Jefferson is indicted he should step down...

Its looking more and more like that's going to happen, and its looking more and more like he's guilty (although he deserves to be considered "innocent until proven guilty" just as much as any of the indicted GOPers....)

I might offer my belief that if we're going to point fingers of "ethical conflict" at the Republicans, we MUST lead by example and hold ourselves to an even higher standard by keeping our own (glass) house clean...

So, here's my question...

ASSUMING THIS GUY IS INDCITED...

2. Sadly I think Democrats will wuss out on this like they do everything else
They have a great opportunity to set an example of what should be done. My guess is they won't do it. They'll squirm and wriggle and make excuses and natter on incoherently and in the end they will blow the opportunity.

After all, Congressman Jefferson isn't the only Congressman with a freezer.

Dean will end up standing alone.

3. I would support having him resign now ......
He is under suspicion and that taints the party. These are not ordinary times.

I'm not a 'moral high ground' person when it comes to campaigning. I'm of a mind that we need to be stronger, guttier ..... and yes, dirtier, if we're to win.

But this is a case where the moral high ground *does* make sense. We need to get the 'Dems did it too' meme OFF the table for the midterms.

And face it ... is there even **one** person who, apart from the 'innocent until proven guilty' argument, honestly thinks this guy is innocent? I sure don't.

Ths isn't about legal guilt or innocence. It is about the **appearance** of guilt or innocence.
