Hard-core Republicans fleeing Bush
http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/05-06/05-14-06/07world-nation.htm

Michael Franc, a top official at the Heritage Foundation, said his organization hosted 600 of its top conservative donors last week and heard more widespread complaining about Republicans than at any point in the past 12 years. "It begins with spending, extends through immigration and results in a sense that we have Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dee for the two parties,'' Franc said.
"He's not well liked,'' said Douglas Giles, 47, a self-described conservative from Buffalo. "A lot of people don't think he's very good.''

Michael Dimock, of the Pew Research Center, a leading polling group, said one of the most striking findings of recent surveys is the growing number of conservatives who "don't see Bush as one of them (as) they did earlier in his presidency.'' Pew found that Bush has suffered a 24-point drop in his approval rating among voters who backed him in 2004: from 92 percent in January 2005 to 68 percent in March.

1. Don't expect them to vote for Democrats
They will vote for pubbies below the level of the presidency, just like they always do. The most disgusted ones may stay home, but don't bet on that, either.

They still aren't ready to come to grips with the fact that their party's philosophy is what is wrong. Stupid just represents the inevitable outcome of being in power for the past 37 years*.

*Yes, 37 years. Carter and Clinton were both conservative southern Democrats who largely continued the idiocies of their predecessors.

3. I think many of them would be inclined to not vote at all
Not that we can assume this of course...we have to remain diligent on our end of things. I do enjoy watching these people finally wake up though.

4. they have a calculator for a heart
they will be shopping at the best boutiques instead of fighting to fix the country. They are
only interested in their earnings. They will not risk their money on uncertain results, well,
there's always the tax shelters off shore.

6. they're only interested in themselves...
After 9/11, I was speaking to a conservative and we were talking about current events and what should be done. He started talking about money and that low taxes were important to him. I told him that was a pretty petty concern (to be so focused on his own pocketbook) considering the dangerous problems that face us now.

Bottom line.........money is all these people understand!!

8. Well, fortunately that is also true for the Saudis
since they are losing a bundle on the dollar, I am sure they are not eager to throu more money
to the GOP right now. I loved Laura on ABC This Week saying how she's is campaigning all over
the country so the Republicans can get re-elected. I wanted to shout, can't you see that you
are hurting America.

5. exactly!!
that bush is dying in the polls will likely help elect some Democrats this year ... that's the good news ...

the bad news is that bush's low poll numbers are NOT an indication that Democrats are changing minds and winning back voters who allowed them to be the majority party for generations ...

11. Stay at home. I hope they do. But more and more, I am hearing
that it is bad to have a president and a congress from the same party. Many are now claiming that they will vote the man, not the party.

7. LOL!
I don't think there's anything much funnier than "He's not really one of us" from the GOP. He's exactly what they wanted and worked for....

9. Pretty convenient
They help Dubya hotwire a car and drive it all night.

When he totals it, they jump out and say "I knew he couldn't drive."

Then, they start looking for a new car to 'jack, and another dirtbag to drive it.

as far as it will probably go.

Others who put George and Dick in their operative positions (George as pretend Pres and chief fund raiser) have long term plans that have been in effect for decades. They slowly and guietly groomed lawyers and judges for as many local civic, county, state, and federal positions as possible. They knew the value of preparing the understructure as well as stealing elections which was a desparate, but necessary act for them. Necessary because of their 'vast' agenda.

George will be no big loss. Dick neither. Their plan is well established. And they are not going to shut down their understructure. School boards. School funds. Book content swapping out.

And then there is The Federalist Society - steadily working on changing the Constitution for reverends, ceo's, the military, lobbyists, and politicians. Not for you. Not for me.

12. I'm confused by your last line
I'm the chief executive and chaplain of a well-connected defense firm. What do you mean they're not making those changes for me?
