Edited on Sun May-14-06 10:14 AM by zoeb
any worries. Do we really want phone companies and Newt deciding what's "normal?"
Meet the Press is so informative.

1. This kind of shit is the next step to abandoning the Constitution
Be afraid of the bearded man and trust the government to protect you. Of course, the cost of protecting you will be the rights you wanted protected in the first place.

7. Most constitutional scholars would agree
"one step away from a dictatorship." I don't recall who said that now but it's still scary.

3. What would Newt (or other Repugs) know about "normal?" Sex at poker games
at Watergate, perhaps? Or Gannon buddies, or Abramoff pay-offs?

If we are judged by "normal" Repug behavior, we could do and talk about every white-collar crime in the book, then some...and usually be "pardoned" somewhere down the line.

4. I may make normal phone calls, but ...
Am I to trust incorruptibility of listeners
. to the companies where I invest?
. How about the phone calls of the politicians I trust who campaign again?

How about the companies that would use my phone calls as indication of illness they could avoid to cover?

That would be a normal call.

That would be a worry.

..Make your searches WARRANTED..

11. Therein lies the central issue to this case. I don't want ANYONE
deciding if my phone calls are "normal". Somehow, if the gov has a beef with me about something, my so-called "normal" calls may become "abnormal". That's scary folks. We're heading to a place we absolutely don't want to go.

your mother to tell her that you want a divorce just after she's told you she has MS?

17. When Newt's own phone call got intercepted he screeched in rage
like a scalded parrot....

"Two days later the contents of the tape were on the front page of the "New York Times." The tape potentially could cause problems for Newt Gingrich, who had made a deal with the Ethics Committee not to orchestrate a response to its charges. But the tape might cause problems for McDermott as well because federal law prohibits intentionally intercepting telephone calls or intentionally disclosing their contents. Late this afternoon McDermott announced he will recuse himself from any further work on the Gingrich ethics matter. As for the Martins, they too could be prosecuted for their actions. "

He of all people should be anti-NSA phone spying. I'm guessing that's his idea of a "normal" phone call.

24. So... My sister & I can't about our granny disposal fantasies?
(Our granny is one of the most irritating people on the planet. I'd have to think REALLY hard about which would be worse -- a road trip with Dumbya or a road trip with Granny.)

We love her, but damn if that woman couldn't get on ANYONE'S nerves. I think Jesus would have been tempted to slap the shit out of her.
