Bush "double" on Meet the Press today. Why not Colbert?
Ha Ha. The mainstream media is so intent on tamping down or dissing Colbert's performance, they are doing their best to elevate the kind of funny but rather mediocre Bush "double" from the Correspondents Dinner into some kind of a comedy phenomenon. All week long, they've shown that portion of the dinner ad nauseum and now Tim Russert is featuring him on Meet the Press. Since when does a run-of-the-mill comedian merit more than a passing mention on a Sunday morning talk show? Wouldn't Colbert, an incisive political commentator who rocked the Washington, D.C. establishment be a better choice?

Oh - wait a minute - Russert is PART of the Washington, D.C. establishment that got rocked.

Never mind.

1. I wonder how long they rehearsed that skit......and what the "double"
thinks of doing it........He is funny on Leno....but...after a few minutes of watching the skit, I thought the whole thing was pathetic...because it was so real....shrub is 2 faced.

5. If he was going to go this route why didn't he have both Colbert...
and the Bush double on today. Only seems fair to me. Then he could be addressing an important issue, regarding how inadequate the media is.

8. They're trying to erase Colbert from public's memory....He wasn't even
mentioned as being a part of the show. I'm afraid Steve the Georgie twin has lost me as a fan after this appearance on MTP. He more than once said he thought Bush was a nice guy and likeable and endearing etc. :puke:

10. He only mentioned twice that he "was not mean," implying Colbert was.
Colbert did the unpardonable and unforgivable--he stuck it to the Washington press corps--"big time!"

11. Because Colbert has his own show? I hope Mr. Bridges is working on his
Al Gore impression. My fondest wish is that he'll be able to use it a lot after 2008.
