Bush plans to visit California next week

"But sources said the president is planning public events in Northern California -- including San Jose and Sacramento during a two-day stop, possibly the 21st and 22nd.

Bush, who remains a prodigious fundraiser for the GOP despite poll numbers that are at an all-time low, also aims to pick up campaign cash in California, which is also considered the ATM of campaign check-writing. He will appear at closed fundraising events in both Palm Desert and the northern part of the state, sources said.

Those events, aimed to include GOP Eagles -- top party donors -- will benefit the Republican National Committee.

With less than two months until the June gubernatorial primary -- and seven months to go before the 2006 gubernatorial contest -- the Bush trip poses potential political challenges for Schwarzenegger, as the GOP governor strives to broaden his appeal to moderate and independent voters.

The most recent Field Poll, released Tuesday, showed Bush with a 32 percent approval rating in California, the lowest of his presidency -- and among the lowest ever recorded by a sitting U.S. president. And another Field Poll released today shows that Schwarzenegger is barely more popular, with an approval rating of 39 percent among Californians."

6. please take him
fucker is always coming to Ohio ...... likes to return to his crime scene.

He needs a 250,000 strong protest to welcome him.

BTW .... I think he has given up trying to make us think he really is running things.

12. You'll never see that kind of a protest
The illegal aliens and their supporters are too busy protesting against enforcement of the law, to worry about "petty" things like the theft of our rights to vote.

17. well, they don't get to vote, so it doesn't occur
to them that it might make things better. Too bad we aren't as impassioned as they.

22. You have a strange take on
folks who have just as much right being here as many of us (my grandfather was an "illegal" from Canada).

Check it out a little better, they're not protesting against enforcement of "the law", they're protesting against being classed as felons and thrown into jail for being BORN here or for helping one of their fellow humans.

Piss on all Flags!

<<Check it out a little better, they're not protesting against enforcement of "the law", they're protesting against being classed as felons and thrown into jail for being BORN here or for helping one of their fellow humans.>>

What's so bad about that? If you "help your fellow human" who happens to be a murderer, you're doing something illegal: aiding and abetting a criminal. So if you "help your fellow human" who happens to be committing a federal crime, it damned well SHOULD be a felony. What are these people going to want next--amnesty for people who "help your fellow human" who happens to be a kidnapper? You're not supposed to help criminals in this country--a good citizen TURNS THEM IN TO THE AUTHORITIES, PERIOD.

BTW, there aren't going to be any newborn babies thrown in jail, so tone down the histrionics, please.

Also, I don't support any illegal immigrants--not from Canada, either. What's so hard about coming here legally from Canada? Let me guess--the language barrier?

Puh-LEEZE!

27. What histrionics?
The only histrionics in this threadlet are your xenophobic ramblings.

Unfortunately for you (from what I can gather reading your posts), this latest nonsense from the radical-right ain't gonna pass anyway. So this discussion (if it can be characterized as such) is moot...

So you can return to the border with your 357 magnum and preserve opportunity for those who got here honorably by stealing the country from its original inhabitants.

what Jon Stewart said about the illegals the other week. He said we should be especially wary of Canadian illegals because they look like us but they're nicer :)

23. Grumble grumble grumble
robble robble robble.

You're probably more right than you know- you'll never see that kind of a protest. Think about that statement, for a minute:

1.2 Million of us went to DC in 2004 to represent the majority of Americans who are pro-choice, but you wouldn't fucking know it from the media coverage at the time. Several hundred thousand of us protested -repeatedly and peacefully- in San Francisco against the Iraq war, but if you paid attention to the media, you thought it was equal numbers of pro and anti-war demonstrators, combined with crazed mobs of pierced, tattooed, blue-haired punk kids burning mailboxes on market street.

For the record, I don't think immigration is a black and white issue on any side- but the media shows you the people waving Mexican flags -and report the large numbers from those protests- because they want you pissed off at the mexican flag wavers, and not pissed off at the suits in their corporate boardrooms.

Including the ones who salivate over cheap, low wage labor.

4. You know when cheney tried to visit nevada
they had to sneak him in and he was picketed. It was only covered local media, never made national news.

The cover up is beyond belief.

10. Gotta read between the lines
<<Bush, who remains a prodigious fundraiser for the GOP despite poll numbers that are at an all-time low>>

That's because he's got a bunch of rich old bastards willing to write him big, fat checks. His numbers could be 1% and these old f*cks would still support him

<<He will appear at closed fundraising events>>

He still can't face the public, for fear of being booed as "Duck!" Cheney was at that recent baseball game.

<<in both Palm Desert and the northern part of the state>>

In the Rich Old Bastard capitals of California. Can't believe he didn't manage to swing by Orange County, or are his numbers dropping there, too?

20. I have a military ID and was thinking of hanging out at the base
the day he arrives. Could even think about taking some guests in my minivan. I remember a day Clinton flew in. Lots of activity at the base, they close it down just before the plane comes in. Easy to see from 101, it fills your windshield as the beginning of the runway is really close to the freeway.

More specifically, as near to the border as possible.
Then we could toss him over that fence and tell Mexico to keep him and we'll keep the immigrants.
