re: The Daily Show .... I have done a search,
but am unable to find a discussion on the Iraqi guest on the Daily Show. Is there one and what was that all about?

1. He claims that WMDs were shipped to Syria before we invaded
He seemed pretty sincere about it. I still don't think it makes any sense that Saddam would do that. The only reason he would ship WMDs out of the country is if he thought he was going to lose the war, and he didn't think that.

13. But he also told Stewart ...
that he didn't have first-hand knowledge of the WMD transfer to Syria.

18. It's nonsense
There is absolutely no way in hell Saddam could have transfered any significant quantity of chemical or bio agents in aircraft without US intelligence knowing about it. You can be sure they tracked every single airplane in and out of that country for months before the invasion, and probably every day since Desert Storm.

The Bush administration would be telling us exactly what was sent (probably inflating it, but at least telling us the minumum possible), which flights, when they took off, where they took off from, and when/where they landed, if there were a word of truth in this guy's story.

2. I'm looking for the same thing...
I tuned in and didn't trust that guy (supposedly #2 in the Iraqi Air Force) for a second. Said he had worked with Saddam since 1968 and always told him "the truth," even if it's not what he wanted to hear. He also said that WMDs will be found in Syria, because Iraqi pilots told him they moved the WMDs prior to the U.S. invasion. Jon was referring to him as "nice" and "sweet" which seemed rather silly.

4. This guy was on Haniity and Colmes and it turns out he was in the Air
Force back in the eighties.

He only knows what "his friends" told him about moving WMD to Syria.

Yeah, like he'd turn those over to his rival in Syria.

6. Was Hannity sucking up to him?
I won't even ask about Colmes. It makes my brain hurt to think about this: the WMDs are actually in Syria - we've been in the wrong country for three years! But first, we need to swing by Iran, then in to Syria!

I guess anything to sell his book...

She "watches right-wing TV so you don't have to." :)

7. Sounds like a double dose of horseshit to me
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 02:16 AM by Harald Ragnarsson
What Iraqi pilots would these be? Iraq has had no air force to speak of and no fly zones on both sides of baghdad for over a decade before the second "war". Even if Iraq had some planes, I don't believe for a second that they moved WMD out by air. Bullshit. No way, no how.

There were no WMD and Bush and everyone else under the sun just about knew it. Anyone with a shred of credibility was saying that before the "war" began.

Further, I don't believe Saddam would allow himself to be run out of power, have his sons and grandson butchered, hid out in a shitty little hole in the ground, and then be paraded in front of the entire world in his FRICKING UNDERWEAR if he had ever HAD any WMD. Moved them to Syria my ass.

Was Bush under this guys chair with his arm shoved up his ass by chance?

9. Maybe not Bush, but Rove.
I've been thinking about the interview this morning - it's still bugging me. Did that dude think we're that stupid? I guess so. Even if it were true (which I don't believe for a second that it is), are we to believe that NO intelligence agency (anywhere in the world) picked up on the increased air travel between Iraq and Syria after the U.S. announced its intent to go in? And what really killed me is that the guy said (more or less), "oh yes, it's still dangerous and I have to live in the international zone and people are getting killed every day, but yay! Saddam is gone." I listened to a Bush clip the other day (think he was in Cleveland) in which he testily answered a question with "the WHOLE WORLD thought there were WMDs!". The disconnect is stunning.

3. It's about a feeble attempt to make the war about mustard gas vs. Nuclear
weapons and 911. This was was never about "WMD's" it was about a so called "imminent threat" from a dangerous leader who was supposedly linked deeply to Al Qaida.

8. He had Saddam's ear; His generals misled him about the WMD's...
...what better way to mislead Saddam than to have some pilots tell this guy about WMDs, then have this guy tell Saddam? He freely admits to not having 1st hand knowledge about the WMD's himself.

The fact is that, if you do your homework, you'll find out that the weapons that Saddam had could not have lasted this long in storage - they degrade into uselessness.

Saddam didn't have the kind of nerve gas they used in Goldfinger...

He never had little vials of powdered anthrax like Colin Powell showed at the UN. "Bush Uncovered" and Scott Ritter's work clearly spell this out.

Furthermore, Iraq did NOT have the facilities to produce more WMDs. So if any of this existed at all it wasn't worth using.
