Bush’s Poll Ratings Continue to Plummet
Bush’s Poll Ratings Continue to Plummet
March 21st, 2006 @ 2:03 pm

A new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Monday show Bush’s ratings continue to plummet, even in the wake of his latest push for support on the Iraq war. Bush proved again today that he’s in deep denial and out of touch with reality, as he stated at his press conference, that withdrawal of the troops from Iraq will be based on decisions from “future presidents.” Here’s a few highlights from the poll:

Bush’s approval rating of 36 percent is the lowest mark of his presidency in a Gallup poll, falling a percentage point below the 37 percent approval he scored in November.

Only 38 percent said they believe the nearly 3-year-old war was going well for the United States, down from 46 percent in January, while 60 percent said they believed the war was going poorly.

Fifty-seven percent said they believe the March 2003 invasion of Iraq was a mistake, near September’s record high of 59 percent.

Only 32 percent polled over the weekend said they thought Bush had a clear plan for handling the situation in Iraq, while 67 percent said he did not.

Democrats enjoy lead

2. I'm curious how many of the 32%
who think Bush has a clear plan for Iraq...
actually know what the plan is.

I'm curious what they would say ??

5. I was way off on this one
For years I thought Bush's approval rating low tide was 38-40%, given the support from his base. Just shows what a remarkable stretch of sustained incompetence can do. Although I still think if Bush were on the ballot this year, his approval rating would be higher. If the GOP had only that choice and he was the standard bearer, not as many would defect and dissaprove. Now that he's not on the ballot, they feel more comfortable expressing their true opinion of him. However, it's extremely dangerous to equate that low approval rating to the November elections. Even people saying dissaprove in that poll are going to vote for their home party and the candidate closest to their political leanings. We desperately need to boost the brand name favorability of Democrats prior to November.
