Don't do anything!
That would be my message to this administration and its enabling GOP-controlled congress. I don't want them to reform anything, propose anything, fix anything, raise or lower taxes on anything or take action at all. I understand that any changes they make will almost certainly exacerbate conditions and not repair them. Leave things as they are and the grown-ups will, once again, clean up after they're gone.

Don't touch my Social Security; leave that mess where it is! We'll get it beginning December 2006. For goodness' sake don't reform pensions; leave them (and especially mine) alone. I'm sure the GOP is salivating more profusely than Pavlov's pooch at the prospect of further reform-ripoffs. And the thought of this GOP reforming our constitutional protections is actually scary!

Ask the generals who report to Pace what is needed in Iraq and how best to begin withdrawal, give it to them and do nothing else. Tell Pace (and Abizaid) to be silent. The thought of withdrawal occurring under your supervision brings nightmares of Halliburton-related frauds, political mismanagement and outcomes of the worst possible sort. Visions of hostile-to-the-US governments prevailing and escaping locals clinging to the last Chinooks taking off come to mind.

Like a host with a dangerous, destructive, messy and disrespectful guest, I just want them to go. Don't help me with the cleanup; I'll get it. Just go.
