From a catalogue I've never heard of and never ordered, but which arrived in today's mail ..... I give you ......

Disappearing Civil Liberties Mug

Freedom of speech and the pressgone. Protection from unreasonable searches and seizures vanished. Speedy and public trialpfft. Pour in a hot beverage and watch the Bill of Rights disappear. 12-oz. ceramic mug. Set of Two Mugs

Disappearing Civil Liberties Mug
Item# 12681
In Stock
Our Price: $21.95

Here's a linkie to their online catalogue showing the same item. http://acornonline.com/product.asp?pn=12681&Disappearin...

The company, as noted on the back of their print catalogue, is ACORN, PO Box 1670, West Chester, OH 45071-1670.

The rest of the catalogue has lotsa WWII and 1940's repro/nostalgia crap, most of it overpriced or gimicky.

What's your take on this?

2. Acorn Media is the parent company, and they're a cool produciton company
they produced the Tales of the City series for PBS along with a lot of British comedy releases. I think its a protest thing....

3. Just a tad too flip for my taste.
Or as my grandmother would have said, "Too clever by half."

And twenty-two bucks for a cute mug? Yipes.

4. I've seen this advertised
on some of the liberal/progressive sites. It's actually just a clever reminder of what BushCo has stripped from the Bill of Rights.
