Bush says Iraq faces "moment of choosing"
Bush faced a "moment of choosing" in 2003: He chose to start an illegal war. Idiot.

Bush says Iraq faces "moment of choosing"

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Friday Iraq faces a "moment of choosing" in the aftermath of the bombing of a major Shi'ite Muslim shrine and urged Iraqis to stay on the path of democracy.

In a speech to an American Legion gathering, Bush hailed Iraq's revered Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani for working to urge restraint and calm after the bombing on Wednesday raised fears of outright civil war.

"This is a moment of choosing for the Iraqi people," said Bush, who spoke after attending a National Security Council meeting at the White House devoted to Iraq.

He said the Iraqi government was taking steps to determine how the attack happened and the necessary steps to move the political process forward.

1. And if they take advantage of their "moment of choosing"
the same way we did, then Iraq is about to invade Portugal.

:silly:

2. I wish we had that choice, but the coup d'etat killed that possibility
I'd choose democracy, the real kind, not the neocon lip-service kind.

4. Awkward expression, isn't it?
"Moment of choosing"? I can quickly come up with two or three better ways of saying this. Did someone write this for him, or is this Bushspeak?

6. Probably someone wrote it as "moment of choice", but
Bush decided to put his own spin on it to make himself appear folksy, like a guy you'd like to have a beer with.

Another thought: Bush can't use the word choice in any statement or it will stir up all the RW fundies.

9. Classic face saving maneuver

put the onus on the Iraqi people. If they don't stop what they're doing, we can get the hell outta dodge, and say, hey, at least we tried.

And the scary part is, that kind of nonsense will likely resonate with many of the sheeple...
