The White House Katrina report and its recommendations
are totally irrelevant as long as incompetent bush cronies are in charge. If uncaring, political hacks are hired to carry out the plan it won't work. But, the report will do what it is supposed to do. It will convince bush's base that he cares and he is doing something about the problem. Listen to the evidence at a water cooler near you.

1. The hurricane season begins June 1 and will extend through December

thus completely running concurrently to the 2006 election season.

How will the people of the USA, of all political persuasions, react to another complete FUBAR non-response/non-disaster relief by *Bushco? Especially when the entire Gulf Coast is still a disaster area and will be for at least a decade?

:scared: I have no idea how Rove will spin the upcoming hurricanes while managing to not help anyone. :(

edit: Uh oh. I jsut saw this headline on CSPAN Capitol News:

'White House urges clearer role for Pentagon in Natural Disasters'

http://www.sunherald.com/mld/sunherald/13942627.htm

I wonder if Bush will try to take over control of the LA Nat'l Guard from Gov. Blanco again?

2. I am serious as a heart attack when I say
I fear for this upcoming season. We are thirty miles off the coast and were extremely lucky compared to those south of us, but we went through 29-30 August and the eye of Katrina went right over us. I never, ever want to do that again.

3. Would you support General Honore and his troops doing relief work?
(again?) He seems like a good soldier, an honorable man and a proud son of LA. However, I'm not sure what the civilian military leaders have in mind for the blue states and blue cities in the Hurricane zone.
