Constitution Vigils
President Bush is breaking the law. Can you attend a Constitution Vigil in your community to bear witness to his lawbreaking and remind Congress that it's their job to hold him accountable?
Attend a Vigil
The president is breaking the law and so far, Congress hasn't done anything about it. Our Constitution is on the line.
Tomorrow, thousands of MoveOn members from Charleston, South Carolina to Missoula, Montana are holding Constitution Vigils to send a strong message to our elected officials: It's time for Congress to do its job, defend the Constitution and fully investigate the president's illegal program. Can you join us?

We'll remind Congress about what's at stake and that it's their job to defend the Constitution. And, we'll invite the media to get our message out to millions of Americans.
This is a huge moment. After months of debate, it's clear to Democrats and Republicans that the president is breaking the law. The call for an investigation is picking up steam-but the White House is nervous about what that may find so they're pressuring Republicans to back off. This week, our representatives and senators are deciding what to do about it and it's critical that they hear from you.
We believe that public pressure will force Congress to take this seriously. Your representatives and senators are home this week for the President's Day holiday and it is vitally important that they see the faces of people in their community who expect them to hold the president accountable. If thousands of us come together, we'll give Congress the push they need to go all the way.

The president's central defense at this point is "trust me." But our system of checks and balances is critical precisely because presidents have abused these powers in the past. We can't stand by and let it happen again.
By attending a vigil tomorrow, you'll be sending a clear message to members of Congress as they start to think about the 2006 elections: they need to do their job, defend the Constitution and hold the president accountable—and you're watching to make sure they do.
