(AP) CHICAGO Thanks but no thanks.

That's Chicago's answer to an invitation to submit a bid to host the 2008 Republican National Convention.

The Republican National Committee said yesterday that Chicago and 30 other cities were selected to submit bids explaining why they'd be a good choice to host the 2008 convention.

But a spokeswoman for Mayor Richard Daley says City Hall isn't interested.

Jackie Heard says city officials are more focused on whether to pursue a campaign to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Chicago hosted the Democratic National Convention in 1996.

I guess they didn't want the riots and protestors like we had here in New York, not to mention the final bill to pay for it all.

Edited for spelling.

2. They should make them have it in the 9th ward.
I saw Philly news this a.m. and they sounded like they really want the RNC there since it'll mean $$$$$ for the city. I'd prefer if they stayed away from the blue states they've sold off (ie. Philly ports...)

5. Chicago's call girls are sad about this.
The RNC is GREAT business for all Sexworkers. Especially high-end call girls and dominatrixes.

In contrast, the DNC is bad for business because Democrats have no trouble getting laid without paying for it.

7. Does Chicago realize how close they came to being the next
9/11 type terror target?

I mean, why else would the Repukes want Chicago to host their convention? Was New York City booked?

Wouldn't the Repukes want to have the host city be where a terrorist attack had happened?
