"The Rape of Nanking"
I just finished this book.Nanking was the capitol of China during WW11. I had no idea what the Japanese did to the Chinese. It was like reading a horror story. Rape and butchery.Over 300,00 Chinese murdered. Then the huge conservative cover up in Japan. To this day the Japanese have not apologised,or in a lot of cases won't admit that it happened.

1. Japan was allowed to keep all the treasure they pillaged
in Asia after the war. Those riches helped kick-start their economy afterwards.

It's not too far removed from what China has done to Tibet. Well over a million Tibetans have been killed by the Chinese. This includes raping of women and children.

3. Nanking was just the tip of the iceberg.
The Japanese were as bad or worse than the Nazis in Europe and the Japanese have never come to terms or admitted their wrongdoing. The Chinese to this day truly hate the Japanese.

6. The story of the rape of Nanking (meaning "Northern Capital" ...
... is the story which best demonstrates the out of control Japanese juggernaut into ethnocentric extremes. It's the Asian version of Nazism. The treatment of Chinese by Japanese was simply appalling, and the story bears retelling.

The Chinese have a legit beef regarding the lack of proper apology, too.

7. To be accurate
Nanking (Nanjing) means "Southern Capital", Beijing means "Northern Capital."
