8. Awesome!! Democrats have been winning a LOT lately!

And this was on the New Hampshire Democrat site a couple weeks ago:

"On Tuesday, the Democratic candidate for the NH House, Penn Brown, defeated her Republican opponent by a wide margin. The win increased the Democrats winning streak to 7 out of the last 8 special elections in New Hampshire since the 2004 election, and increased the number of Democrats in the NH House to 152. Congratulations to the NHDP and the Rockingham County Democrats for the big win."

We're on a roll baby!

13. And don't forget the District 33 VA Senate seat 3 weeks ago!!
Democrat wins Special Election in VA
By Dominic Gabello
Posted on Tue Jan 31, 2006 at 08:32:21 PM EST

Congratulations to former Loudoun County Supervisor Mark Herring who won a seat in the Virginia State Senate (District 33) defeating Loudoun Supervisor D.M. "Mick" Staton, Jr., the protege and son-in-law of former Delegate Dick Black. Unofficial results show Herring garnering 12,379 (61%) votes to Staton's 7,688 (39%).

This district was vacated by Senator Bill Mims, who resigned to take a position in the Attorney General of Virginia's office.

This continues the trend of Democrats doing well in the exurbs of Virginia. Governor Tim Kaine won Loudoun County this past fall, which is traditionally a Republican area.

This is also good news for Democrats in Virginia, who have already picked up 1 seat in a special election this month in the House of Delegates (57-40-3) and now picked up a seat in the Senate (23-17).

15. both are either urban or suburban districts
as far as I can tell (Lousville and Austin); Don't know that this tells us how rural districts will go - but it does suggest that the city areas that have gone red are returning to the D column (traditionally more urban and suburban areas go dem). That is a first step, good sign.

Now if only we can keep it up in nov.

I think it will be funny as shit to see the AGONY in the * administration's faces as they deal with a democratic congress and the democratic congress deals with them!

Wonder if Cheney's trigger happy habits will haunt the November elections, or are the American people that quick to forget?

19. Perry Clark endorsed Lyndon LaRouche in 2004
On June 8, Kentucky State Rep. Perry Clark (D-Louisville) said, "We need to shake up the Democratic Party before the National Democratic Convention, and we need to start telling the truth about the direction of our nation, before it is too late.

"In May of this year I endorsed Democratic Presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche, because he is not afraid to fight both the Democratic establishment and the terrible policies emanating out of the White House. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for presumptive Democratic nominee John Kerry....

21. I won't be happy until Clark is sworn in. The Republican leader
David Williams is the one that caused this special election when he refused to seat the Democrat, Virginia Woodward. Under Kentucky Senate Rules, they can refuse to seat a person. Williams controls the Senate and I have little doubt the republican majority would vote against Clark if told to by Williams. I am not sure Clark has been sworn in. Until he is, don't get too happy over this win.

25. Wow.. that's insane!
Can they just keep refusing to seat someone until they finally get the candidate they want???

Don't they have to provide reasons for not seating someone?!?!

If not.. voters there actually put up with that?

I hope he is sworn in!!

http://www.ky-sdc.com/ It was after this incident that Williams said senate rules allowed him to seat Stephenson even though the courts said he can't.

BTW, this is what Williams used to subvert the courts.

From the Ky constitution.

Section 38 of the Constitution, which provides that "each House of the General Assembly shall judge of the qualifications, elections and returns of its members."

24. The Republicans in Congress are doing their best to help us out,
with their enabling of the Bush's administration's crimes and incompetence, it should be a banner year.

Kicked and recommended.
