Far Left ("progressives") - amateurish, whining non-Democrats
Edited on Sat Feb-04-06 03:53 PM by spaniard
* * * * Based upon the NEW rules of debate on DU as set fourth by the OP here (All charges are true unless someone disproves them), I declare the following to be fact unless proven definitively otherwise. * * * *

* "Progressives" are backed by corporations - corporate networks and capital.

* "Progressives" assess upcoming elections and determine which ones they can throw to the GOP

* "Progressives" hand pick candidates based on a strict ideological litmus test, then try to sabotage Democrats in other races that don't pass such tests.

* Republicans are glad to see this because because it helps them win elections.

* Once elected, (if they even get elected), "progressive" candidates seldom accomplish anything because their appeal is so narrow.

* "Progressives" are only apt to seek publicity that diminishes the Democratic party.

* "Progressives" enjoy losing because they love the "cause" more than the solution. If they actually ever won anything, they'd be even unhappier than they are because they would have nothing left to do.

You just pissed on a DU sacred cow. I suppose you don't think Cindy Sheehan should run for president in 2008? Or that Hugo Chavez is the Best Leader Ever Who Can Do No Wrong?

Prepare to be crucified!

9. LOL! People who have responded so far don't get it -so I'll explain
The two link's OP threw out a bunch of outlandish charges against the DLC and then said they were true unless someone could prove otherwise. Another DUer approved of that. So, now that there are new DU rules of debate, we can make all kinds of BS become true. Guilty until proven innocent.

10. I got it....
Maybe I should have included the sarcasm tag: DU does seem to suffer from an irony deficiency.

I'm not a DLCer or a "progressive" so I generally avoid the flamewars, but DU groupthink has been stifling over the past couple of days, so it'll be interesting to see how many flames the OP gets.

21. Well, half that is true.

* "Progressives" enjoy losing because they love the "cause" more than the solution. If they actually ever won anything, they'd be even unhappier than they are because they would have nothing left to do.

It's not true about everyone who calls themselves a progressive, of course, but there's a faction of the far left--I call them suicide doves--who prefer complaining, trashing Democrats, trashing anyone with mass appeal, and whining about how nothing gets done, over actually banding together and getting something done. The people who would rather remain "ideologically pure" and uncompromised than actually engage in politics.
