Poll question: DiFi vs. Cindy - who WOULD you vote for?
If it came down to a showdown for Dianne Feinstein's Senate seat, who would you vote for if Cindy Sheehan follows through with a possible run?

1. I think Cindy would lose in the general election, but I'd vote for her
and campaign for her to teach DiFi a lesson. Not even sure if I'd want Cindy to beat DiFi, but DiFi needs some major bitch-slapping to remmeber who got her there in the first place.

3. I love Cindy Sheehan, would support her in any and all stands
against the war but she has jumped the shark on some issues that I feel strong about. Sorry, but can't support her carte blanch on any and all things just because "Cindy says." Supporting someone or an issue no matter what is what the repugs do and not for me.

That said, Cindy will always be a hero to me for what she has done for this country.

5. Good on ya, D4E
Critical thinking is what we need most at this stage in our nation's history.

I love Cindy, but I have no doubt that she and I are gonna disagree on more than a few policy issues.

8. I agree.
She put a face on the anti-war movement and let the country know there was and anti-war movement -- a wonderful achievement for which I will always be grateful. But I too will not blindly support everything she does.

4. Cindy--in a heartbeat.
Edited on Sat Jan-28-06 11:03 AM by EST
Short reasons:
No connection to fasciocorporatism
Unwilling to triangulate or equivocate, even in the face of adversity
Imagine DiFi spending weeks in a snake, fire ant and scorpion-infested ditch
in the unforgiving Texas weather, in August
Takes on the pretender to the presidency without all the symbolic forelock tugging and foot scraping
Bright, intelligent and focused and not yet besmirched by rubbing elbows with the DeLays, Abramoffs, and McCains of the world
Did not grow up and spend adult life with silver foot in mouth, ie, really does see the world as do 70% of the pop.
Has very few, if any skeletons in the closet, with the attendant expense of horsepower needed to hide or protect them
Speaks well and clearly-no need to go hunting for hidden meanings or secondary purposes
She is a person (shudder) that I would like to have a beer with!
Does not give a damn if you're gay, straight, black or white, You are human and that is enough
Is clearly aware that crap does not smell pretty, no matter whether it's democrat or republican
There is more but that's sufficient.

6. My vote would be "against" DiFi, not "for" Cindy.
Ms. Sheehan has become somewhat abrasive at times and over the top, but I think if she could be mentored by a politician such as Ted Kennedy, she would be terrific. The potential to do great good for citizens is definitely within her.

DiFi's IWR vote, medicare, props to corporations et al are enduring misfires on matters of life and death. Cindy would learn to modify her tone - not her principles.

17. If she's so antiwar, why is she implying Iraquis were worst off BEFORE
the war started than they are now? She is no longer anti-war. Now she is COINTELPRO - or their tool.

24. US should not leave Iraq: Clinton
DAVOS: Former US President Bill Clinton said on Saturday that US efforts to improve Iraq should not be abandoned and warned that all options for Iran must be considered.

Speaking to attendees at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting, Clinton said the US, and its supporters, should not leave Iraq prematurely.

"We shouldn't just precipitously give this thing up and say it can't work," he said "If this thing works, it'll be a good thing for everbody in the Middle East. If it doesn't, it'll be trouble."

Clinton also warned that all options should be considered with Iran, which is resuming its nuclear programme, "including UN sanctions."

26. Why shouldn't she talk about more than the war?
Martin Luther King talked about more than Civil Rights. She's not "discrediting the anti-war movement", she's enhancing it by being consistant in her criticism of pro-war politicians.

here in California, she not only would have my vote but a volunteer in her campaign. This guy has run unopposed for two elections, since I got stuck with him in a gerrymandering trick.

He is head of the Ways and Means Committee in Washington and really needs to go.

37. Voted for Senator Feinstein. I don't believe Cindy Sheehan will run,
or if she does, I don't think she can wrest the nomination from the very popular Dianne Feinstein in California.

That isn't to say that I don't like Cindy Sheehan. It also isn't to say that I appreciate Dianne Feinstein's support of Condi Rice, etc. either.

But Feinstein is very shrewd and also very popular. I think it would be a doomed commitment to challenge her.
