I have a question about the INS
Would it not be cheaper and more efficient to go after the companies who employ illegal immigrants? It would likely take fewer agents to do the investigations, and it would reduce the incentives for those crossing the borders, as they would not be able to get jobs here.

2. Absolutely it would be cheaper and of course it makes perfect sense
therefore this government won't do it that way.

Don't want to hurt the feelings of their donors, dontcha know?

Better to go after hundreds of thousands of individuals, than hundreds of companies.

:sarcasm: :eyes:

7. Well since the INS was sucked into the bureaucratic black hole that is
the Department of Homeland Security, the new C.I.S. or Citizenship and Immigration Service, now focuses more on getting the wrong people in quickly and keeping the right people out effectively - albeit ineffeciently due to the gigantic clusterfuck of bumbling Bushies.

There is really no incentive to come here the legal way...case in point, goodgirl.

We began the immigration process days after we got married. Forms and fees, fingerprints, and photos, roughly $1500.00. It took almost a year to get her work authorization card. It took another 4 months for our first interview...another 5 months for our 2nd interview and another year until she got her green card.

but...

If she would've flown to Mexico, swam the Rio Grande, she'd have been set up from the start!

Immigrants from nations not so 'friendly' to the US get in much faster than say, immigrants from former Soviet sattelite countries.
