53% of Americans willing to filibuster Alito

Poll: Alito should sit on high court

Supreme Court nominee expected to win panel support Tuesday

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A majority of Americans said the Senate should confirm federal appellate judge Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court, with just 30 percent opposing his confirmation, according to a poll released Monday.

Of those surveyed, 48 percent said a Democratic filibuster of the nominee would not be justified, while 38 percent said it would be. Another 15 percent said they were not sure whether a filibuster -- the use of extended debate to block a Senate vote on the nominee -- would be justified.

38 + 15 = 53%. Sorry if this is from yesterday's news, but it burns me up to see the headline they used for this story:

We need to shake the trees even harder!

1. You cannot just lump the 15% undecided into our column.

3. 15% are still open to debate
With a strong argument you can persuade that 15% to oppose Alito. When the conventional wisdom gets shattered you can start a landslide in public opinion.

2. Yup, a week ago 56 % wanted impeachment, now
a solid plurality want the Constitution to be interpreted by a lying, inexperienced, incompetent * crony. Things are really going our way! I can't wait for November. :eyes:
