One thing I've noticed about Bush and his pals is that they often pass laws or make regulations under public pressure, then refuse to enforce them. Considering the fact that banned cattle parts were found in shipments of beef to Japan, and that Canada recently found a new case with barely a reaction from our government, I think Bush and his pals are back at their "ignore the regs" tricks.
http://www.cidrap.umn.edu/cidrap/content/other/bse/news/jan2306bse.htmlI almost never eat beef anymore simply because I don't trust the Bush Administration to do the right thing to control mad cow disease. I also have the happy experience of getting sick every time I eat chicken from the store. No doubt it's heavily infected with E-Coli, caused by a tolerance of fecal material all over the packing plant by companies who inspect themselves. I can't trust the Bush Administration to make sure the chicken I buy is safe, either. I haven't had any problems with pork yet, but no doubt Bush and his pals will start overlooking problems with trichinosis to boost pork producer $$$.
I'm thinking very seriously about turning vegetarian even though I don't feel as healthy when I eat that way. What's the alternative - mad cow, e-coli and trichinosis? Feeling blah from eating vegetarian is a much better alternative than serious Bush Administration induced illness. Lord knows Bush doesn't care about public health.
I wonder how many people would need to die horrible deaths before Bush would actually do anything to improve public health and our food supply?
