Gore speech attended by 3,000, say sponsors
I just checked the blog of the American Constitution Society, which has a nice write-up of the Gore speech.

They report 3,000 people in the live audience at DAR Constitution Hall.

1. That sounds about right
The hall holds 3500, and the only seats not filled were those in the top 10 rows of the balconies.

3. You did a good writeup.
I was there too, high up in a balcony almost next to the stage.

When Gore was in the wings, waiting to go onstage, I looked at him and gave him a big "thumbs up." And he smiled and waved to me. I was thrilled.

I have never heard him speak in such profound tones. This speech deserves to go down in history alongside the great ones like the Gettysburg Address and Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty" speech.

4. They put people on waitlists and told them to show up
and they let lots of people in after the ticketholders were admitted.

I think they could have organized things a bit better. I know several people who wanted to go but couldn't get tickets.
