Tenet and Franks DID NOT WANT bin Laden kill or captured.

I just finished Gary Berntsen - Jawbreaker book about the war in Afghanistan. While most people talk about General Franks did not support the capture of bin Laden with 600 Rangers but thought the locals could stop him from escaping, Tenet also pulled Berntsen out at the same time Berntsen was requesting time and time again the Rangers to block the escape routes and replaces him with one of his friends.

It was a 6 man team CIA team Berntsen put into the Tora Bora mountains that lasered the main al Qaeda positions there that got destroyed by air power.

BUT this is not the first time Tenet pulled Berntsen out of Afghanistan. He also pulled him out before 9-11, when Berntsen was on the trail of bin Laden and very close to killing him.

IMHO, for their own reasons both Tenet and Franks wanted bin Laden to escape.

A couple other points. General Franks is a man that likes to live very well. He had his own C-17 cargo jet, fitted out not as plush as Air Force 1 but very nice per Berntsen. And one time Berntsen was to meet Franks, Franks had the Air Force fly in a brand new Ford Pickup truck just in case Franks wanted to use it.

Will Berntsen is not a fan of President Clinton, every time he had something bad to say about him, it was also said about Tenet. And he admits Tenet down played the ability of the CIA to Clinton.

1. That last line...
leads me to believe that tenet was in on The Big Fix, to attempt to taint Clinton's reputation and legacy, in all so many ways.

Can you imagine what a morale buster that would be to all terrorist world wide? I mean can you imagine what might happen if all the terrorist put down their guns, and knife cutters and went home to their families? There might not be any boogey man and everyone knows that you cant have a decent war without boogeymen.

C'mon get with the program...Geesh.
