ARG Poll: Bush 46, Kerry 47, by double digits among independents!!!!!!!!!
All I can say is wow. I admit, it appears they didn't poll for the other nominees. However, Kerry actually does better than the generic democrat.

All Voters:
Bush 47
Dem 46

All Voters:
Bush 46
Kerry 47

Independents:
Bush 46
Dem 49

Independents:
Bush 39
Kerry 55

I guess Kerry really does have moderate-crossover appeal.

1. First
I must say this is no proof of moderate-crossover appeal. Sorry.

3. I'd point out the low number of undecideds as well
Sure it is. Kerry clearly has more appeal than the "generic dem". This is a marled shift from several weeks ago. They clearly like Kerry more than Bush.

5. His support among independents is very much proof of that
Of course, it may not be permanent.

2. I posted this earlier
The independent support for Kerry and the generic Dem, and the disapproval of Bush, is a trend that bodes well for us - if it stays.

4. Goody. Now please convince me he has a spine.
You know, something that will allow him to break up international cartels which are sucking this nation dry?

My darkest suspicion that he, and perhaps all of them, will allow the Patriot Act and other horrors to stand, because the power is just too seductive.

And because the big corporations will hire a lone gunman if he doesn't.

6. Kerry has yet to be raked over the coals
as of now the media has been very favorable of him.

Once they turn and begining to throw mud then JK is really going to have to fight. This is going to be a hard contest for any nominee.

8. A little perspective for any polls in direct matchups against Bush
this early in the game:

"This year, Democrat Al Gore's campaign aides point to the 1988 contest between Dukakis, then governor of Massachusetts, and then-Vice President George Bush, whose son, Texas Gov. George W. Bush, is Gore's Republican rival. Dukakis led Bush by 14 points in a poll in early June, surging to 17 points after the Democratic convention. He wound up losing the election by 7 points."

http://quest.cjonline.com/stories/060900/gen_early.shtml

Also remember that Kerry was behind by up to 40 points in some polls even a few months ago. Is this good news for him? Certainly. Does it mean much? Not really.

15. We should
keep in mind, as I remember that time, that the citizenry wasn't as pissed off then as it is now.

No campaign should give up, though.

11. Yes
Especially when we're going up against a cowardly AWOL piece of crap like Bush who used an aircraft carrier for a photo op.

Polling 45% in Missouri. Leading the field in five or six other states.

No, no importance at all.

18. may i remind you:
first of all, all of those numbers (except bush vs kerry for independants) are WAY inside the poll's margin of error. second of all, i seem to recall that polls and pundits said that dean and gephart would be the front-runners in iowa.
