The Best Present, We Could Give The Iraqis
is to impeach Bush and Cheney for high crimes and treason against the American People and the Constitution that they swore to uphold. This will prove without a shadow of a doubt to the Iraqis and terrorist propagandists around the world that no one is above the law. This will give them an example as to how to live with their new Constitution and to change it legally if they are not satisfied with the laws on the books.

1. The Iraqi people
I think we do a grave disservice to the Iraqi people by thinking we know what would be a 'best present' to them. Advocate for impeachment if you believe in that, fine. However, it's mighty arrogant of us to assume what anybody in Iraq wants without our asking them.

We certainly wouldn't like anyone in another country saying to us that the best present we could have is to have Dick Cheney for president, or a Bush third term, or a monarchy instituted. The Iraqis are as deserving of respect as we are.

2. it was arrogant for us to assume we could bring democracy to them
by illegally invading, bombing and occupying them......also, plenty of foreigners are saying it would be best for us to dump these pieces of garbage currently occupying the White House and I ABSOLTELY AGREE

3. I feel as If I am respecting not only the Iraqis
but the sacrifices that our troops and their families have been making supposedly for democracy to flourish in the Middle East.

If we as a nation truly believe the Iraqis or anyone else for that matter deserve democracy and democracy can only exist when the rule of law is paramount, then impeaching Bush/Cheney is a logical extension of that reasoning. What kind of message does it send to the world, when we preach democracy over totalitarianism to them abroad and yet allow it at home? What kind of message does it send to the Iraqis, when we say, risk your life to vote for a constitution when our current administration trashes our own?

4. I'm not saying...
...not to advocate for impeachment. I'm saying it isn't fair for us to assume we know what would be a gift to the Iraqis--especially without even asking them. Would YOU want someone to assume they know what would make YOU happy? What if I said to you 'The best gift I could give you would be Karl Rove as your next president?' You still think I have the right to determine that for you?

5. The real gift, is the gift of integrity,
for those warring factions in Iraq who argue that we are full of shit, just there to steal their oil. I am not advocating that we should impeach Bush/Cheney for the sole reason of making Iraq happy, they have given us plenty of reasons to impeach them.

Regarding gifts, sometimes a gift that is beneficial to a recipient will not necessarily make them happy. For example new clothes for your child when they wanted an XBOX instead. Furthermore, I am not advocating picking their leader as your Karl Rove example implies. I am advocating putting our money where our mouth is. We are trying to preach democracy to them while our own administration trashes the democracy we claim to stand for? Does this not seem ironic to you?

6. I think...
...we need to ask the Iraqis what they would consider a 'gift'--and then listen to what they have to tell us.

7. I thought, according to Bush,
we had already decided on the gift, it was to be democracy, did I miss something? That's why we went over and blew at least 30,000 of them up. As we have now sacrificed 2100+ Americans to write this check for democracy, it seems to me the least we could do is make it good.
