Here's a question for whoever knows the answer.

Do you have to be 25 years old on election day or the day you're sworn(if you win) to run for US Representative of a district?

Thank you for the answer.

2. When you are sworn in
You do not need to be 25 to run, only to be sworn in

could not get an answer on the internet. I say you have to be 25 when you declare your candidacy.

quote......
What are the qualifications to run for office in the House of Representatives? In the Senate?
The required qualifications are found in Article 1 of the Constitution:

House of Representatives

twenty five years of age
a citizen of the United States for at least 7 years
at the time of election, be a resident of the state

6. You couldn't find the Constitution?
"No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen."

Doesn't say anything about running. You have to be 25 to hold the office.

5. Thanks for the answers...however
I got some conflicting responses. For the two people who said sworn in day, where did you get that info? I was initially thinking, like the 3rd responder that it was election day but after reading www.timwalz.com, the main opposition to Gil Gutknecht(R, MN-1), I felt that his message is weak (he has 3 issues under his issue category...and none of them are Iraq or voting reform, the two biggest issues in my mind.

I emailed his campaign questioning his stances on issues not reprerented and why only three issues(not even with depth of any sort)? I see this a go around of trying to win by not being Republican. Walz isn't really standing up for anything or that is atleast the image conveyed to the public when he has three broad issues talked about and neither of the two most important ones in my opinion.

I have no chance at winning, nor at probably even winning many votes were I to run but I'd love to increase the debate and serve the country should I win. There's many things that are wrong with this country...which even goes to a 3rd big issue of mine, Impeachment, which Walz also doesn't offer an answer on.

My birthday is Jan. 1, 1982. I'd be 25 next swear in day.

I think Biden was elected at age 29 but turned 30 before taking his Senate seat.
