Wait a Minute:The USA is paying out $250 Mil to fund Propaganda in Iraq??
Just heard on the TV news, the USA is shelling out $250 Mil to make America and its Iraqi Project more appealing. ... without telling them that this story/ad/piece was paid for by us. This makes it propaganda...which the story on TV was described as such.

They are Now blatantly using the term in describing efforts to SELL our presence in the ME. They are paying Iraqi Journalists to write Wine and Roses Stories about us..put us in a good light. I suspect, this is gonna crap out as one more bad idea from BUSHCO.
Annnnd........

If its good to use propaganda on the Iraqi People, as they claim it is,..... then it might be good to use Propaganda on us American Citizens....

which is what we been saying for these past few years.

This is INSANE.....what the fuck are these guys thinking....or, errrrr,.....smoking???? Must be some kinda good shit to put them in that realm...

4. But but
If they spend 700 million on good things then they cant spend more to repair damage which require more to undo the damage cause by their repair job.

Typical marketing strategy of drug company.

First you take a drug to cure your problems then you need another for the side effects and so on so on.

Not good for profit.

5. It's astounding, considering that the US is the zenith of capitalism
and the press is doing it (except in a few cases where the "reporters" are bought off cheap) for free . . .

8. Uh, they've been doing it here too...
They have been doing the same thing here too. Think of their "special" reporters. Judy Miller, Bob Novak, Bob Woodward, every living creature at Faux News, and who knows who else? They were spoon fed what to write and they wrote it without talking to their editors in some cases or letting anyone else know they had a special relationship with the White House.

There are probably a lot more of them too that we are not aware of yet. Kyra Phillips on CNN talks like she's on the Bush payroll and maybe she is. Who knows? Does anyone really think that all of these flacks did what they did for God and Country and the warm runny feeling of a job well done. Nah. I bet they were given a lot more than access and spin. I'd love to have someone find the budget for their payoffs.

12. If we ever find out how much money goes for covert propaganda
here in America...it would be in an astounding range....i/e Rash earns $25 mil per YEAR...tell me if that is not a payoff....

9. U.S.A. Today Article In Yesterday's Edition Says "Pentagon Rolls....
Out Stealth PR" a $300M effort aims to spread pro-U.S.messages in foreign media. I ask if any foreigner reads or hears anything pro-U.S. in their media - how can they believe it if we are telling the world that we are planting the stories?

Seems to me what makes better sense is that the U.S. just really do good things and let the foreign media pick up on that. It's the honest way of spreading pro-U.S. messages - but not the * way of spreading pro-U.S. messages.
