All the talk in the MSM about the economy ignores these facts:
Even Alan Greenspan sees trouble on the horizon

<snip>

Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan warned Friday of possible severe consequences to the economy if policy-makers do not attack federal budget deficits projected to soar with baby boomer retirements. Greenspan said it was likely that Congress will have to make "significant adjustments" in reducing benefits to future retirees. He said it appears the country has promised more than it can afford to deliver in Social Security and especially Medicare payments, given that health care costs have been exploding.

"So long as health care costs continue to grow faster than the economy as a whole, they will exert budget pressures that seem increasingly likely to make current fiscal policy unsustainable,"

1. But I find Greenspan's comments to be bullshit, too...
... when he zeroes in on Soc Sec and Medicare as the source of the problems.

Yes, there are record numbers of baby-boomers retiring now.

But we're also blowing billion dollars a month on Bush's folly in Iraq.

Nobody in a suit and tie seems to want to talk about that... probably because they're profiting off this war and don't want to put a damper on the "fun."

:grr:

6. I didn't read it so much that SS and Medicare are the source
more that they have become potential billpayers for the deficit.

2. that's what they want -- if they dig the deficit hole
deep enough they can dismantle fdr's legacy and write a new one.

4. MSM is owned by GE, Disney, ect.........
From what I saw this morning on ABC and NBC it reminded me of the ENRON days before it collapsed they both had some person on talking up the market. GE and Disney are trying everything they can to pump up their stock. I own GE stock and it hasn't moved since 2001.

5. But, but...
The Dow could hit 11,000 so that must mean the economy is booming. Besides, ABC said it was booming so it must be so.

8. Yes.
And it would spur more job growth (employers have said health bennies are just about their biggest expense), plus allow more people to try entrepreneurship, b/c it's too expensive to go into business for yourself w/our insane nazi healthcare system.
